My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 438

"Mina! Have you lost your damn mind?"

Lucky grabbed Mina's arm and violently yanked her toward the door. "That bitch doctor explicitly said if anything happens to her man, she'll let Victor die! Why the hell would you hit him?"

"Get your hands off me!" Mina snarled, slapping his hand away.

Lucky grabbed her again, harder this time. "Move! We need to get out of here before Zeke catches us, or we're both dead meat!"

As she was dragged out the door, Mina threw one last venomous glare at Lucian.

Lucian simply closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the wall.

It was as if nothing had happened at all.

Back in the main room, Zeke walked in holding a basin of steaming water. "Water's boiling. Your husband is fine for now."

Seraphina paused what she was doing, her brows knitting together tightly.

For now...

Zeke was openly threatening her!

"Where's the liquor?"

"We're out."

Mina stormed in from outside, her tone explosive. "Why couldn't you just list everything you needed at once? First this, then that. Do you even know what the hell you're doing?"

She had clearly heard Seraphina ask for the liquor earlier, but she was entirely consumed by rage and needed to take it out on someone.

Seraphina completely ignored her and looked expectantly at Zeke.

Zeke turned around, rummaged through a dusty corner of the room, and pulled out a half-empty bottle of cheap, potent alcohol. He handed it over.

The label was entirely worn off, but the sharp, burning fumes hit Seraphina's nose immediately. It was incredibly high proof.

Seraphina took it, poured a generous amount over her pocket knife, and splashed the rest over her own hands to sterilize them.

She walked up to the bed.

She had already cleaned the wound's surface. Earlier, she had probed the area with her fingers and determined that the bullet wasn't lodged too deeply; it was wedged between the muscle tissue and the bone.

Her palms were slick with nervous sweat.

She forced herself to remember that this was no different from her anatomy classes pulling shrapnel out of pig carcasses. The muscle structures were virtually identical.

Gritting her teeth, she slid the tip of the blade into the ruined flesh.

The unconscious man on the bed let out a muffled roar of agony, his body violently arching off the mattress.

"Hold him down!"

Zeke and Lucky instantly threw their weight onto the man—one pinning his shoulders, the other restraining his legs.
