Lucky loitered by the door for a long time, but neither Seraphina nor Lucian made a sound.
He finally sneered and walked away.
Only when the sound of his footsteps faded did Seraphina release a heavy breath.
Lucian lowered his voice and leaned closer to her. "It's better than being out in the elements, but this place is far from safe."
Seraphina nodded in absolute agreement.
Exactly. That was exactly what she was thinking.
Aside from Zeke, who seemed somewhat disciplined, everyone else in this camp seemed completely unhinged.
But...
"Zeke is the real threat here," Seraphina whispered.
Lucian gave a curt nod. "Right. Lucky and Mina act like they run the place and fear nothing, but the second Zeke gives an order, they fall right in line."
"Which means Zeke is the one running this crew, at least until we see this 'Victor' guy," Seraphina analyzed.
"So, you have to be extremely careful around Zeke..."
Before Lucian could finish his sentence, heavy footsteps approached rapidly.
Seraphina and Lucian went dead silent.
The door to The Wood Shed was violently kicked open.
Lucky stood in the doorway, scanning the room before barking coldly, "Zeke wants you to check on Victor."
Seraphina didn't move an inch.
Lucky's eyes darkened, a flash of murderous intent crossing his face. He raised a fist, threatening her. "Get your ass up, or I'll kill you both right here!"
Seraphina took a deep breath and stood up.
She pointed squarely at Lucian. "You don't touch him. If I find out a single hair on his head is harmed, I will personally make sure your boss dies."
"You crazy bitch, you dare?" Lucky snarled, his eyes bloodshot, looking like he wanted to rip Seraphina apart with his bare hands.
Seraphina met his psychotic glare without a shred of fear, refusing to back down.
Just as the standoff reached a boiling point, Zeke's imposing frame appeared in the doorway. "What's taking so long?"
