Clara stepped closer.
The oppressive aura radiating from her grew stronger by the second.
Ethan instinctively shrank back.
He suddenly realized his sister was not someone he wanted to mess with.
Clara stopped in front of him and asked flatly, "Are you hurt?"
Ethan shook his head. "I run fast."
"Why were they chasing you?" she demanded coldly.
Ethan looked genuinely confused.
After school, he had gone over to a friend's house to play video games. The moment he stepped outside, he realized he was being tailed.
He recognized the guys as upperclassmen from his school, but they usually stayed completely out of each other's way.
He had no idea why they had targeted him.
All he knew was that they weren't going to let him go, so he ran like his life depended on it!
Clara knew she wasn't going to get a straight answer out of him. "Didn't I tell you that you can only do what you want after your homework is finished? Your workload is doubled tonight. You're not going to sleep until you finish twice your usual amount."
Ethan opened his mouth to snap back.
But the moment he saw her tightly clenched fists, his bravery evaporated.
His sister was ridiculously strong—at least three times stronger than Mr. Harrison... No, make that five times!
He forced a strained smirk. "Jules asked me to log on and play with him. That's the only reason I went to my friend's house."
"You're useless at everything except passing the buck. Ethan, can you take a little responsibility for once?" Clara laughed, though her eyes were devoid of humor. "Since you want to make excuses and shift the blame, your homework is tripled."
Ethan glared at her, puffing out his cheeks. "You can't just multiply my homework whenever you feel like it! Why should I even listen to you?"
"Cut the crap. Lights out in ten minutes. Push the tower, now!"
The entire dorm room erupted in a chaotic symphony of clicking mice and frantic shouting.
Just then, a girl's shrill voice echoed from the courtyard below. "Jules Lambert, get down here right now! Jules!"
A roommate nudged him. "Hey Jules, you've got a fangirl out there!"
Jules didn't even glance away from his screen. "Busy!"
"Jules Lambert, come out here!" The girl below had brought a megaphone. "I'm officially confessing my love! Jules, I like you!"
"Holy shit!" His roommates were stunned. "A girl is actually confessing to you!"
It wasn't until the match finally ended that Jules pushed his chair back and strolled out onto the balcony.
The girl's grand gesture had already attracted a massive crowd of students, all of them cheering and whistling.
"Jules, you finally came out!" The girl's voice trembled with excitement. "I really like you! I like you so much! Will you go out with me?"
