Mission: Revenge – The Heiress's Second Life novel Chapter 10

A dangerous glint flashed in her eyes as her smile widened into something terrifying.

Night fell completely.

The lights in the Lambert estate were extinguished, plunging the massive house into utter darkness.

In the sprawling second-floor master suite, Serena was half-asleep when she distinctly heard the click of her balcony lock.

Thinking she was imagining things, she groggily opened her eyes, only to see a dark figure slipping through the glass doors.

"Intrud—!"

Before she could even scream, a sharp pain struck the back of her neck, and she instantly blacked out on the mattress.

The shadowy intruder was none other than Clara.

Crouching by the edge of the bed, Clara pulled a paring knife from her waist and slowly traced the cold steel along Serena's cheek.

[Ding! Warning! Warning!]

[Intentionally disfiguring another person is a heinous crime! Please abort this dangerous course of action immediately!]

[A proper heiress does not commit felonies! Please drop the weapon!]

Clara shifted her grip, grabbing a thick handful of Serena's long hair instead.

Fine. If she couldn't slice up her face, she would take her hair.

An eye for an eye, as the old saying goes. It was hardly a breach of morals if she was just returning a favor.

Moving with terrifying speed, Clara spent less than five minutes hacking off every inch of Serena's beautiful locks until she was practically bald, the hair littering the floor.

That night, Clara slept more soundly than she had in a decade.

The next morning, she awoke to the shrill sound of Serena's screams.

"Ahhh! My hair! It's gone!"

"Mom! We were robbed! They shaved my head! My life is over!"

The System's lockpicking reward really hadn't let her down.

The System: [...]

It had granted her those skills to escape danger, not to break and enter! It had given the reward to the wrong person!

Clara blinked innocently and stepped into the room. "I read an article recently about certain high-end skincare brands causing rapid aging and sudden hair loss. Serena, were you using one of those shady brands?"

Serena's head whipped toward her, her eyes widening in pure realization. "It was you! You shaved my head!"

"Serena, just because you went bald doesn't mean you can blame me," Clara said, her tone dripping with fake sympathy. "Nanny Higgins, the sweet old lady who looked after me, went entirely bald too. But she used a home remedy, and her hair grew back in two weeks. Do you want the recipe?"

"Get out! Get out of my house!"

Serena shrieked, driven utterly insane by the mockery.

Being compared to some wrinkly old maid was the ultimate, unforgivable insult!

Just then, a deep, displeased male voice echoed from the hallway. "Serena, who exactly are you telling to get out?"
