However, the tips of her ears still carried a faint, stubborn pink flush that refused to fade.
His lips curved into a slight smile. "Let's go eat."
Nora let him lead her back toward their private dining room. After a few steps, she suddenly remembered something and lowered her voice. "You didn't... take your medicine earlier, did you?"
Hudson paused and turned to look at her.
She was looking up at him, her dark eyes filled with genuine concern, her lips pressed together, her eyelashes fluttering softly.
"No."
Nora visibly relaxed, letting out a small sigh of relief. "Good."
Hudson's grip on her hand tightened. His Adam's apple bobbed slightly, but he didn't say anything else, simply pulling her along to the dining room.
...
Meanwhile, Tiffany Lancaster and a few of her friends had just taken the elevator up to the top floor of the club. The moment the doors opened, she spotted Hudson walking into a private suite with a woman, his arm wrapped around her waist in an incredibly intimate gesture.
Tiffany froze in her tracks, her expression darkening by the second.
"Tiff? What are you looking at?"
Her friend Sloane Summers followed her gaze. She only caught a glimpse of his back, but she recognized him immediately.
"Mr. Lancaster?"
She frowned in confusion. "Who's that woman with him?"
Tiffany pressed her lips together and remained silent.
"You don't think that's the Reed heiress, do you?" someone guessed.
At that, Tiffany's face turned completely thunderous.
Seeing her reaction, the other girls instantly connected the dots.
Hearing this, Sloane turned to Tiffany and leaned in with a cheeky smile. "Well, Tiff, looks like you'll have to start sucking up to your future sister-in-law. I heard when this Jade Reed first came back from abroad, she got into a catfight over a guy at a charity gala and slapped a waiter across the face. Sounds like she's got a nasty temper. You better not get on her bad side."
The whole group burst into giggles.
"Yeah, Tiff, you'll have to watch your step. If you make her mad, she'll just go complain to your cousin, and you'll be the one paying for it."
"She's the apple of Mr. Lancaster's eye right now. When you see her, you'll have to smile, play nice, and call her 'Nora'."
Tiffany's expression grew uglier by the second.
She slammed her juice glass down onto the table. The liquid splashed out, staining the white tablecloth.
The laughter in the room instantly died.
"Are you done running your mouths?"
Tiffany's voice was freezing cold as she glared at every single girl in the room. "My cousin's choices are none of your business. Do you think this is some maid's gossip circle?"
