Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 67

Well, then.

Grant shoved his phone back into his pocket, thoroughly impressed.

That swift, no-nonsense attitude perfectly matched Major Hamilton's usual style.

"So that woman really is Gavin's girlfriend?!" Leo's brows furrowed so deeply they formed a knot.

As the youngest of the Hamilton family, Leo had grown up entirely in the imposing, towering shadow of his eldest brother, Gavin.

It was said that the eldest brother was like a father, and while Leo feared absolutely nothing in this world, he was terrified of Gavin.

"If Gavin is willing to bring her home, then it's a done deal." Grant cheerfully patted his brother's shoulder, a hint of schadenfreude in his voice. "You'd better serve our future sister-in-law well from now on. Don't cause any more trouble."

Leo muttered a sullen 'yeah'.

His mind was consumed by a single terrifying thought.

He had yelled at his sister-in-law today. Would behaving like an absolute angel tomorrow be enough to save his life?

Grinning, Grant pulled out a pack of cigarettes, stuck one between his lips, and handed another to Leo.

Leo took it but didn't light it. He twirled it between his fingers and let out a long, heavy sigh.

Ugh, this was so stressful!

He had no idea how to be an obedient little angel...

...

Meanwhile, in Northampton.

Edmond Sterling sat in his office at Starlight Media, the ashtray in front of him overflowing with crushed cigarette butts.

A financial news report played on his computer screen:

[Lancaster Group Officially Completes Acquisition of Star Entertainment. Hudson Lancaster Appointed as New Chairman.]

Edmond stared dead-eyed at the headline. The cigarette in his hand burned down to the filter, and he didn't even notice until the heat seared his fingers. Snapping back to reality, he violently crushed the ember into the ashtray.

"Edmond."

Ferris Quinn walked in, looking equally grim. "I looked into it. The buyer of Star Entertainment is the Lancaster family's..."

Before he could finish, he noticed the news playing on the screen and swallowed the rest of his sentence.

Edmond leaned back in his chair and closed his eyes.

If it were anyone else, he could have put up a fight for the company.

Edmond barked his full name, his voice dripping with venom. Every syllable carried an icy, suffocating weight.

Ferris swallowed hard and pushed through his fear. "Edmond, I honestly didn't get a clear look. I just... saw her from a distance and thought the side profile looked similar. But you know how it is, there are plenty of people in the world who look alike. It might not have been..."

"Enough."

Edmond cut him off. His temples were throbbing relentlessly, his mind a chaotic mess.

It couldn't be.

It had to be a coincidence.

Wasn't Hudson Lancaster planning to marry Jade Reed?

That made Hudson his future brother-in-law...

Even if it really was Nora, it didn't mean anything.

Edmond took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.

After what felt like an eternity, he masked his emotions completely, returning to his usual composed, authoritative demeanor. "How is the situation with Caleb Miller being handled?"

Ferris let out a sigh of relief and quickly reported, "Legal has stepped in and the process has started. PR is trying to suppress the trending topics, but it's not working. He's been the top search on social media for over ten hours now."
