Of course, she knew perfectly well that 'Evangeline' was a complete fake.
The Imposter was an actress she had painstakingly sourced for this exact role.
Liana smirked internally.
This was precisely the outcome she had orchestrated. She had even gone so far as to instruct the girl to discretely shed a few strands of her own pre-prepared hair on the sofa cushions.
And just as she predicted, Finnian had eagerly snatched them up for a DNA Paternity Test.
Once the dust settled, she would have The Imposter stir up a massive, humiliating scandal to completely obliterate 'Evangeline's' reputation.
The Fairchild Family would be so utterly disgusted, they'd abandon the idea of bringing her home forever.
Then, she would be the one and only Fairchild heiress. As for Nora—as long as the bad blood between the Fairchilds and the Lancasters persisted until the end of time, her true identity would never see the light of day. Liana would remain the untouchable jewel of the family.
"Finnian, I really feel terrible for Evie. She's been living in such awful conditions for years. She must have endured so much," Liana said softly, clinging to his arm. "Why don't we give her a generous allowance and set her up with a nice apartment? Let her get comfortable. Maybe then she'll be more open to coming home."
"I have a few connections with some charity organizations. Want me to ask them to check in on her?"
She sounded entirely selfless, but her mind was calculating the exact payout.
Since the 'actress' worked for her, any money funneled her way would inevitably end up right back in Liana's own bank account.
The plagiarism scandal had cost her dearly; the family had slashed her trust fund as punishment. Used to a life of unbridled luxury, she was absolutely miserable trying to survive on a tight budget.
Finnian remained silent for a long moment before finally nodding. "You handle it."
Liana let out a discreet sigh of relief, unable to fully suppress the greedy smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth.
When Finnian stepped away to take a phone call, she leaned lazily against the glass display counter, admiring her fresh manicure. The anxiety that had gripped her for days finally evaporated.
She already had her people keeping a close watch on The Imposter. As long as the girl didn't go rogue, her future was totally secure.
As for Nora...
They were in Northampton now.
Once Hudson and Phoebe were out of the picture, she had plenty of ways to destroy her!
...
Hudson's afternoon strategy meeting dragged on for nearly four hours. By the time he returned to the hotel, night had completely fallen over the city.
He pushed open the door to their suite, his gaze instinctively scanning the living room. His eyes landed on the sofa, the coffee table, and the floor—all completely buried under dozens of high-end shopping bags.
"You're back?" Nora asked, stepping out of the bathroom as she heard the door click shut.
