Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 65

"What guest? I'm not an outsider."

Before the sentence was even finished, the office door was shoved open.

Nora was still sitting on Hudson's lap.

It was too late to stand up, so in a moment of sheer panic, she buried her face directly into his chest.

A deep chuckle rumbled through the man's chest, vibrating through the thin fabric of his shirt. Nora's ears were burning so hot she wished the floor would swallow her whole.

Why was she feeling so guilty?

They were legally married. They had the certificate to prove it...

Yet somehow, she was acting like they were having an illicit affair.

Meanwhile, Grant Hamilton swaggered into the room, an unlit cigarette dangling from his lips. His eyes were crinkled in a roguish, carefree smile.

"Mr. Lancaster, I've got to tell you..."

His voice abruptly died in his throat.

Grant froze in the doorway, the cigarette nearly slipping from his mouth.

He saw a woman sitting on Hudson's lap. Her back was turned to him, so he couldn't see her face, but he could see her slender, porcelain neck and her bright red ears. She wore a simple white blouse tucked into jeans, her waist impossibly tiny.

Hudson's arm was resting casually around her waist, completely relaxed, without a single trace of trying to hide the situation.

"Damn!"

Grant couldn't help but curse. "I guess a man changes once he finally gets a taste. You really know how to play, Hudson. Getting down to business right here in the office during work hours..."

He made a suggestive hand gesture, his expression full of meaning.

Hudson shot him a deadpan, expressionless glare.

Grant's gaze swept over Nora once more, and he instantly recognized her as the woman he had seen that morning.

His grin widened.

"I have to say, Hudson, are you really that obsessed?" he teased relentlessly. "You even bring her to work with you? Even back when I was here, I was never this bold..."

With that, he flashed a beaming smile and called out, "Nora, lovely to see you again."

The door clicked shut, and the office fell silent once more.

Hudson's lips curved into a smirk. He tilted his head toward Nora. "Come here. Let's carry on."

Nora sprang up from the sofa, utterly panicked. "Don't... don't you dare! I still have to go downstairs and work!"

"I meant carry on our conversation. Where did your mind go?" The amusement in Hudson's eyes lingered, his voice low and lazy. "Mrs. Lancaster, this is a professional workplace. It's not good to have your head full of dirty thoughts."

"..."

Who was the one with their head full of dirty thoughts?!

Nora ground her teeth, her cheeks puffing out in indignation.

Watching her adorable reaction, Hudson's eyes darkened with desire. He wanted nothing more than to pull her back into his arms and thoroughly ravage her, but he was afraid of scaring her off.

Forget it...

He needed to take things slowly.

He lowered his eyelashes, seamlessly burying his primal urges. "What do you want for dinner tonight?"
