The moment the words left his mouth, the entire restaurant went dead silent.
The spoon in Grant's hand clattered into his bowl. Sebastian froze in place, utterly bewildered.
What... what was going on?
They were actually getting a divorce?!
Weren't they supposed to resolve their lovers' quarrel in the bedroom?
Hudson was going to regret this and end up groveling to win her back!
"Hudson..." Sebastian was the first to stand up. "Don't say things you don't mean out of anger..."
But before Hudson could reply, Nora looked up at him, her voice eerily calm. "Fine. When?"
"Tomorrow morning." Hudson took a deep breath. "Nine o'clock."
Nora's almond-shaped eyes were red, looking as though she was holding back tears, yet she stubbornly refused to let them fall. "Alright. Tomorrow at nine. I'll see you at the Bureau of Vital Records!"
With that, she stood up and walked out without looking back.
Grant abruptly stood up to chase after her, but Sebastian grabbed his wrist and shook his head.
Grant was frantic, keeping his voice low. "Why are you stopping me? Didn't you see Nora crying?"
Sebastian shot him a look, whispering back, "Did you see Hudson's expression?"
Grant instinctively turned to look at Hudson.
Hudson stood frozen in place, his gaze still fixed on the direction Nora had left. His jaw was clenched tight, but the emotion swirling in his dark eyes was as deep and unfathomable as the ocean.
This was...
They were serious?
Damn it!
This was a disaster!
...
Meanwhile, Nora walked out of the restaurant, tears welling up in her eyes. No matter how hard she tried to hold them back, they fell like a broken string of pearls.
She knew it was just an act, but hearing the word 'divorce' come out of Hudson's mouth still felt like a physical blow to her chest.
Reaching the corner at the end of the hallway, she finally couldn't hold it in anymore. Leaning against the wall, she covered her face with her hands.
Her shoulders trembled slightly. Her sobs were quiet, as if she were terrified of being heard, but she couldn't suppress them entirely.
Just then, a clear, smooth voice drifted over from the side. "Auntie Nora?"
Nora's movements paused. She instinctively looked up, her eyes red, the tear tracks on her cheeks still wet.
