Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 598

Arthur stepped aside to clear the path. "The car is over there. Mr. Fairchild is waiting."

"Right, right, let's go."

The two walked out of the arrivals hall one after the other. A black sedan was already parked by the curb. Arthur opened the rear door, and as Bullock bent down to get in, he realized someone was already sitting in the back.

The man leaned back in his seat, his long legs crossed. He wore a dark gray overcoat, his features sharp and deep, exuding an imposing, commanding presence without even trying.

Bullock froze for a second before hastily bowing even lower. "Mr... Mr. Fairchild, hello. I'm Nathaniel Bullock."

Finnian gave a slight nod, his tone relatively polite. "Mr. Bullock, sorry for the trouble."

"No trouble at all, it's my duty."

Bullock got into the car, resting his hands awkwardly on his knees.

The car started, leaving the airport and merging into the traffic.

The cabin was quiet for a while before Finnian took out a small sealed bag containing the red bracelet from his pocket and held it out to Bullock. "Mr. Bullock, take a look. Do you remember this item?"

Bullock hurriedly took it, carefully opened the sealed bag, and pulled out the faded woven crimson bracelet, examining it thoroughly from every angle.

The end of the bracelet was adorned with a small gold bead. The carvings on the bead were almost entirely worn away, but the word 'Peace' was still faintly visible.

He looked at it for a long time, his brows furrowing as if he was trying hard to recall something.

"This thing... I have some impression of it." He looked up at Finnian, his tone laced with uncertainty. "But I don't remember the exact details. I'll have to check..."

Saying that, he patted the briefcase in his arms. "Don't worry, Mr. Fairchild. I brought all the ledgers from over a decade ago, just as Mr. Knight instructed. We can go through them one by one."

"Then I'll leave it to you, Mr. Bullock."

"Hehe, you're too kind, Mr. Fairchild. It's the least I could do."

Soon, the car pulled into the Argent Club.

Since they had called ahead, Arthur led them straight to a VIP room on the second floor as soon as they got out of the car.

A waiter had originally tried to come in to serve tea, but Finnian waved his hand and dismissed him.

Bullock didn't waste any time. The moment he entered the room, he pulled the ledgers from his bag and started meticulously leafing through them.

For a while, the room was dead silent, save for the rustling sound of turning pages.

"Right here, I found it!"

Suddenly, Bullock's voice rang out in pure excitement. Finnian, who had been on edge this whole time, immediately stood up and snatched the ledger.

The page was filled with columns of yellowed writing, mostly in pen, both neat and sloppy, carrying the distinct ink stains of that era.
