Hudson carried Nora out of the bar to find Olive rushing over. Behind her stood over a dozen imposing bodyguards, all with their heads bowed like scolded children.
"Madam, you're hurt!" Olive's face was riddled with guilt. "It's all my fault. I didn't protect you..."
Nora shook her head immediately. "It's not your fault. The fire was so sudden, and it was total chaos..."
Even if Arthur and Archer had been there, they probably wouldn't have been able to handle it either.
Hudson cast a cold look at Olive. "We'll talk about this when we get back."
"Yes, Boss."
Hudson placed Nora in the car. As soon as the door shut, Arthur started the engine.
Hudson inspected the scrape on Nora's knee, his eyebrows pulled into a tight knot.
"Your knee is a mess, and you said you were fine?"
Nora quickly cupped his face, forcing him to look at her. "I really am fine. It's just a scrape. It looks worse than it is."
Hudson didn't say a word. He looked back at the small, bleeding wound, gently brushing his finger near the edge. Nora sucked in a sharp breath of pain.
He immediately shot her a scolding look.
"..."
Nora looked away guiltily.
Hudson rested her leg gently on his lap. He grabbed a bottle of water and a pack of wet wipes from the console, carefully rinsing away the dirt before meticulously cleaning the edges of the wound.
Nora watched his intense focus, a smile tugging at her lips. Then, remembering the attack, her expression turned serious. "Those guys today were definitely organized. Starting a fire, causing a stampede..."
She paused. "Did you find out who wanted to kidnap me?"
Hudson didn't look up. "Ginger Joyce."
Nora was stunned. "Her?"
She had assumed it was Lawrence Lancaster's doing.
She never expected Ginger.
But something didn't add up...
"Those men were highly trained. They didn't move like regular thugs... Where would Ginger find professionals like that? Could they be your Uncle Lawrence's men?"
Hudson looked up, then shook his head. "Arthur said they were likely foreign mercenaries... My uncle doesn't have the connections for that."
"Olive is a top-tier bodyguard; normal thugs couldn't even touch her. The fact that they managed to pin her down just shows how dangerous they were. Thank God you were smart enough to run, otherwise..."
His eyes narrowed, a flash of murderous intent crossing his gaze.
Nora grabbed his hand. "Well, I'm perfectly safe now, see?"
