Phoebe chuckled softly. “You won't.”
Hudson’s smirk widened as he casually pulled out his phone. “Want to test that theory?”
Phoebe’s confident expression finally cracked.
For a moment, absolute silence gripped the private room. The air grew so thick and tense it felt like ice.
Sebastian and Grant exchanged quick glances. If the situation weren't so volatile, they would have given Hudson a standing ovation.
Damn!
He was a total badass!
He was the only man alive capable of taming a wildcat like Phoebe Vaughn!
Just this morning, she had been ruthlessly arrogant, lifting Sebastian’s chin and threatening to buy his services.
Now, she was sitting there completely silent.
“Oh, by the way...”
Phoebe suddenly spoke up, the smirk returning to her lips, this time a little wider. “I forgot to mention. When I was chatting with your wife earlier, I realized she doesn't seem to know anything about The Ivory Pill.”
Hudson’s eyes instantly darkened.
Seeing she hit a nerve, Phoebe beamed with triumph. “Hudson, do you think I should educate Mrs. Lancaster about what The Ivory Pill really is?”
Hudson let out a low, chilling laugh that didn't reach his eyes. “So, you're threatening me, Ms. Vaughn?”
“Of course not.”
Phoebe set her glass down. “You were the one threatening me first. I have a major flaw—I respond to reason, not threats.”
Hudson scoffed coldly, remaining silent.
Phoebe leaned forward, lacing her fingers together over her knees. “I came here with genuine intentions. I have intel on The Ivory Pill. But it’s just intel. You know as well as I do that a life-saving miracle like that isn't floating around on the market. I can only tell you where it is.”
She paused, letting the weight of her words sink in. “I’m offering this location in exchange for an alliance. Do we have a deal?”
Hudson leaned back, his long legs crossed, staring at her in silence for several seconds as he evaluated her leverage.
Phoebe didn't rush him. She sat perfectly still, waiting for his answer.
“Who told you about The Ivory Pill?”
The moment the words left his mouth, the room fell silent.
Phoebe smiled faintly. “You don't need to worry about that. I have my own intelligence network.”
Hudson picked up his lighter, twirling it deftly between his fingers. His lips curved slightly. “Aren't you afraid that once I have the location, I’ll turn around and crush you?”
Phoebe went silent.
Of course she was afraid.
Hudson was more than capable of wiping her out.
But she wasn't a reckless fool.
