Hudson nodded. He wasn't surprised.
Arnold Vance wouldn't dare lie to him about something like this. Not unless he had a death wish.
“What do we do with Arnold?”
Liam asked, pressing his lips together. “Do we just keep him locked up?”
Hudson let out a cold laugh.
He had only spared the man’s miserable life for Nora’s sake. No matter how awful Arnold was, patricide was a heavy sin, and Hudson had only held back because he didn't want any bad karma falling on Nora.
But now that he knew Arnold wasn't her real father, there was no reason to show mercy.
“Send him to St. Jude's Psychiatric Center with Penelope Reed. Tell the hospital to take special care of him. Unless he leaves in a body bag, he is never to take a single step outside.”
A place like St. Jude's was a black hole. People who went in either died or lost their minds completely.
Whichever fate befell Arnold, Hudson would be thoroughly pleased.
The two men were still talking when the roar of an engine echoed from the courtyard.
A moment later, Nora pushed the door open and walked in.
“You're home early.” Hudson looked up, his cold demeanor instantly melting away the second his eyes landed on her.
“Olive had a package delivered, and she was desperate to open it.”
A drive that usually took thirty minutes had taken less than twenty. She had practically stood on the gas pedal. Nora had no idea what the rush was.
“Has that girl developed a shopping addiction?”
Liam shook his head, laughing softly. “She’s always acting on impulse. I wonder if she’ll ever grow out of it.”
Right on cue, the living room door burst open.
Olive skipped in, practically bouncing with excitement, and punched Liam directly in the shoulder. “Liam, you're talking behind my back again!”
It didn't look like a hard hit, but Liam clutched his arm and groaned dramatically, his eyebrows furrowing in mock agony.
“Listen to me!” Olive tipped her chin up, looking so proud she might burst. “I made a massive discovery today! I’m basically a hero!”
She brandished the DNA report, shaking it so hard the paper snapped loudly. “I secretly had a paternity test done a few days ago. Guess what the results are!”
Liam paused, then chuckled and shook his head.
So this was her grand discovery. Still, he gave her credit for taking the initiative.
Normally, he would have praised her, but since she just punched him, he decided to mess with her. “Let me guess. The test proves there’s no biological relation?”
Olive’s eyes went wide. “How did you know?”
She spun toward Hudson. He sat perfectly still, his expression completely blank, not even a twitch of an eyebrow giving him away. Olive blinked in utter confusion. “No way. Mr. Lancaster, you knew too?!”
Nora was the only one entirely lost. She looked back and forth between them. “What are you guys talking about?”
