Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 54

"Edmond..." Ferris started tentatively. "Should we contact the lawyers?"

"Yeah," Edmond muttered, his voice muffled. "Tell the legal department to start prepping. We'll handle the rest when we get back."

"Got it."

The car slowly pulled away from the block housing Star Tower, making a U-turn at the next intersection to head back to the hotel.

Ferris turned to look out the window, his gaze sweeping casually over the traffic in the oncoming lane.

A black Maybach cruised past in the opposite direction.

Ferris's eyes locked onto it.

That car...

Was that Mr. Lancaster's car again?

He whipped his head around to look, but the vehicle was already shrinking into the distance, leaving only a blurred taillight in its wake.

Ferris frowned, a sudden thought springing to mind.

Why would Mr. Lancaster's car be here?

He had seen it yesterday in the Star Entertainment underground garage, and today it was prowling around Star Tower again...

Ferris recoiled at his own theory.

He opened his mouth to tell Edmond, but upon seeing the murderous, thunderous expression on Edmond's face, he swallowed the words down.

Forget it.

Better wait until they were back in Northampton and dealt with the Starlight mess first.

Nora leaned back in her chair, recalling Leo's rebellious, uncooperative attitude, and a faint smile touched her lips. "It's alright."

A low chuckle came through the line.

"Whatever works."

Hudson didn't press. He gave Arthur an address.

The car smoothly merged into the traffic.

A short while later, they pulled up to a five-star hotel.

Hudson was clearly a regular. The hotel manager rushed out to greet them personally, escorting them to a VIP private dining room.

The courses arrived one by one. Exquisitely plated, small portions, but the taste was phenomenal.

Nora had just taken a few bites when her phone buzzed.

She glanced at the screen. It was Penelope Reed.

She paused, glancing over at Hudson.

The man was unhurriedly eating his truffle soup, looking perfectly relaxed. He didn't seem to notice her hesitation.

Nora swiped to answer and pressed the phone to her ear.

"Nora..."

Penelope's voice filtered through the line, making Nora's spine go completely rigid. Her eyes instantly darted to Hudson...
