Olive's frown deepened. "This is all my fault. If I had noticed there were two teams earlier..."
"It's not your fault," Nora interrupted gently. "You did everything you could."
She turned to Hudson, her eyes wide with worry. "Were they coming after me? Did they kidnap her by mistake?"
Hudson squeezed her hand, his grip firm and reassuring. "Don't worry. I won't let anything happen to your friend. Even if this is Chicago, I'll tear the city apart to find her!"
Nora nodded, wrapping her fingers tightly around his.
"...Who did this?"
Hudson's eyes darkened, radiating a bone-chilling hostility. "It could only be my dear older brother or Uncle Lawrence."
He pulled out his phone and dialed a number. It rang twice before Finnian answered, his voice rough and gravelly.
"Yeah?"
Hudson skipped the pleasantries. "Sienna was kidnapped."
Dead silence fell over the line. A second later, the sharp scrape of a chair dragging across the floor echoed through the speaker. "Where are you?"
"I'll send you the address."
"Give me fifteen minutes."
Hudson hung up and turned to Arthur. "Mobilize everyone. This is Chicago; they won't dare keep her anywhere highly populated. They'll choose abandoned warehouses, industrial zones, or the old docks. Tell our men to sweep those areas first."
"Yes, Boss."
As Arthur hurried out, Hudson turned to Archer. "Head back to San Francisco immediately. Take full command of our forces there. I want Silas dragged out of whatever rat hole he's hiding in, even if you have to dig up the entire city."
"Understood."
With both Arthur and Archer dispatched, Olive eagerly stepped closer, staring at Hudson like a loyal guard dog waiting for an order.
Her wide eyes practically screamed, *What about me?*
"Olive, stay glued to Nora. Do not let her out of your sight for a single second."
"Yes, sir!"
...
Finnian arrived in less than fifteen minutes.
When the doorbell rang, Nora hurried over to let him in.
He had clearly rushed over in a frenzy. He hadn't even grabbed a jacket, and his dress shirt was unbuttoned at the collar. He looked utterly disheveled.
"What happened?" he demanded, stepping inside, his sharp gaze locking onto Hudson.
As he walked past, Nora caught the heavy, unmistakable scent of alcohol lingering on him.
"Someone put a hit out on Nora, but they grabbed the wrong woman," Hudson said coldly. "They thought Sienna was her."
Finnian's breathing hitched for a split second before his brow furrowed fiercely. "Was it Silas?"
He kept a close eye on the power struggles in San Francisco. He knew Silas had recently divorced his wife, and though the details were murky, he suspected Hudson had a hand in it. This had to be Silas retaliating.
"Silas?"
"Almost certainly."
"Don't worry. I'll bring her back alive."
Finnian's eyes narrowed. She had used him as a substitute for a whole year, and she thought she could just discard him the moment she was done?
Not a chance.
He would settle the score with her later.
With that, Finnian turned and walked out. The door shut firmly behind him, his rapid footsteps fading down the hallway.
The living room fell silent once more.
Hudson walked over to Nora, gently tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "Go get some rest."
Nora shook her head. "I want to help..."
He took her hand, his warm palm completely enveloping her cold fingers. He led her to the sofa, gently pushing her down to sit before draping a soft blanket over her knees. "Then sit here and wait."
Nora sighed quietly in her heart. *Sienna, please be safe.*
...
Meanwhile, at The Shipyards.
The wind howling off the abandoned docks was far harsher than in the city. It carried the metallic stench of rust and the foul odor of river water, chilling her straight to the bone.
Sienna woke up shivering.
A dull, throbbing pain radiated from the back of her neck. As her vision cleared, she realized she was tied to a splintering wooden chair. Her hands were bound behind her back, and thick, rough rope was wrapped tightly around her ankles, biting painfully into her skin with every movement.
