"I don't know him, but I know you."
Sienna's voice took on a rare tone of absolute seriousness. "You're sensitive and prone to overthinking. My guess is he's terrified you'll worry yourself sick, so he kept it from you."
Nora remained silent.
Sienna laughed again. "Alright, alright, don't dwell on it. Your Mr. Lancaster is hopelessly devoted to you. If he's hiding something, it's definitely for your own good."
Nora didn't argue with that.
She had never doubted Hudson.
She was just worried about him.
His attacks had been getting more and more frequent lately, and she was terrified something was seriously wrong with his health...
Pushing those dark thoughts aside, she changed the subject. "By the way, Sienna, about that painting from the exhibition... How did your investigation go?"
There was a brief silence on the other end of the line.
Sienna's voice dropped. "I found out everything. That painting... it really was Jared Quinn's work."
"Liana Fairchild stole it?"
"She paid off Jared's former mentor to change the signature on the work to her own. She even forged the entire creative process and the inspiration notes... She completely rebranded Jared's masterpiece as her own..."
Sienna paused, her voice trembling slightly. "Nora... I have to get it back. That belongs to Jared. It's his. He poured his heart and soul into it. I refuse to let his work be defiled by a thief!"
"Okay. I'll help you."
Sienna let out a soft laugh. "Norie, how are you so good to me? If I were a guy, I'd marry you in a heartbeat. Though I doubt I could win in a fight against your Mr. Lancaster..."
Nora couldn't help but shake her head with a smile. Just as she was about to reply, another call came through. She glanced at the screen—Arthur.
"Sienna, I have another call coming in..."
"Alright, go handle your business. We'll catch up another time. Bye~"
With that, the line disconnected.
Nora quickly swiped to answer the new call. "Hello, Arthur..."
"Of course! The vibe in Chicago is much more relaxed than in Northampton anyway. Plus, it's a lot closer."
"Thank you, Director Warren."
"Don't mention it, Director Reed. I'll get the itinerary finalized right away. We should be ready to head out in a day or two."
"Great. I'll let you get back to work."
Hanging up, Nora leaned back in her chair, unable to stop the corners of her mouth from curving upward.
Chicago.
Sienna was in Chicago.
And Hudson was in Chicago.
She pressed her lips together, trying to suppress her grin, but couldn't help opening her map app to search for the address of the Lancaster Group Chicago Branch. She took a screenshot and saved it to her phone.
Once that was done, she placed her phone face down on the desk and took a deep breath, trying her best not to look too ecstatic.
