[Same here +1]
Nora handed the phone back to Chloe and took a deep breath.
So this was what had blown up while she was on vacation for two days.
No wonder the atmosphere felt so weird the second she walked through the doors.
"Nora, are you okay?" Chloe watched her face anxiously.
"I'm fine." Nora shook her head. Just as she was about to speak, someone knocked on the door.
"Come in."
The door swung open, and Vivienne Monroe, the HR Director, stood in the doorway holding a folder, her expression incredibly stern.
"Director Reed, do you have a minute to talk?"
Nora nodded. "Of course."
Seeing this, Chloe quickly slipped out, considerately closing the door behind her.
"Director Reed, I'll get straight to the point."
Vivienne's tone was a bit more polite than usual, but her eyes held a scrutinizing gleam. "I assume you've seen the post online?"
"I've seen it."
"The company's stance is that this must be handled immediately. We can't let it blow out of proportion." Vivienne paused. "But before we take action, I need to verify a few details with you."
"The person who made the post claims to be your college classmate. Is that true?"
Nora leaned back in her chair. "Yes."
Vivienne nodded instinctively, appreciating her blunt honesty.
"And what is your response to the allegations in the post about 'sexual bribery' and 'sleeping your way to the top'?"
Before Vivienne could reply, the office door was suddenly shoved open.
Seraphina strutted into the room with an arrogant sneer. "Too scared to face us? Looks like you've got a guilty conscience!"
Nora didn't bother responding, merely glancing at Vivienne.
Vivienne's brow furrowed. She had brought them in to negotiate a settlement, but these two came in looking for a fight right off the bat.
"Mr. Sutton, Ms. Monroe, if this is your attitude, there's nothing left to discuss."
Seraphina glared, ready to fire back, but Harrison grabbed her arm to stop her.
"Director Monroe, I'm a reasonable man. I don't care who this Ms. Reed is sleeping with at Star Entertainment. But the fact remains that a complete rookie took my job. I'm not asking for the moon. I just want the company to give me an explanation. I didn't bust my ass for Star Entertainment for eight years just to be casually pushed out by a newbie."
Nora finally spoke up. "Mr. Sutton, your termination has absolutely nothing to do with me."
Seraphina instantly lost it. "You waltz into Star Entertainment, and my husband gets fired right after! And you're trying to tell me there's no connection? Do you think we're idiots?"
