This was a scenario Nora absolutely had not anticipated. When Arthur mentioned Hudson was giving a lecture with a Q&A session, she had instantly formulated the plan to raise her hand and surprise him.
But right now, Hudson couldn't even see the top of her head, let alone call on her!
Standing beside her, Olive was even more anxious. Relying on her brute strength, she seriously considered hoisting Nora onto her shoulders. "Ms. Reed, how about you sit on my shoulders? I'll lift you up!" Olive suggested, dropping into a half-squat and aggressively patting her own neck.
Nora didn't know whether to laugh or cry, quickly hauling Olive back onto her feet. Misunderstanding her hesitation, Olive rolled up her sleeves to flex a surprisingly solid bicep. "Don't let my height fool you, I'm jacked! Lifting you is a piece of cake!"
"..."
Nora was momentarily speechless. She couldn't exactly explain that while riding on Olive's shoulders would definitely get Hudson's attention, it would also draw the bewildered stares of the entire auditorium. She had absolutely no desire to humiliate herself on that scale.
Up on stage, Hudson had already called on three different students. Nora had enthusiastically raised her hand every single time, fully aware he couldn't see her through the crowd. Watching the opportunities slip away, she let out a frustrated huff, her shoulders slumping in defeat.
Just as she was wallowing in disappointment, Hudson's deep, amused voice echoed through the microphone. "I'll take one final question."
Instantly, the forest of arms shot up again. This time, Nora didn't bother. There was no point.
"The girl in the very back row, wearing the blue dress."
"And then?"
"And then..." He paused, his voice dropping into a low, husky register. "You submit it directly to me."
A wave of good-natured laughter and cheering erupted across the auditorium. It was impossible to miss the electric, undeniable chemistry surging between the two of them.
Her ears burning hot, Nora shot him a playful glare, though she couldn't stop the wide smile taking over her face.
Seated in the front row, Jude hadn't moved a muscle. He sat slightly turned, his gaze cutting through the massive crowd to rest squarely on that delicate silhouette in the back. Under the soft auditorium lights, her profile was stunning. But what truly struck him were her eyes—sparkling like crushed diamonds, overflowing with absolute, unwavering adoration for the man on the stage.
