Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 441

Hudson pulled out his room key, pausing right before he swiped it. He glanced back at Arthur, his brow furrowing slightly. "What's wrong? Do you need something?"

"Huh?" Arthur blinked, caught off guard.

"If you don't need anything, go get some rest. We have more meetings tomorrow."

"...Right. Goodnight, Boss."

With a soft click, Hudson's door shut.

Arthur pursed his lips and stared at the door next to Hudson's. Refusing to give up, he shot Nora one last text. Just like the dozen before it, the message sank like a stone into the abyss.

He sighed. He was absolutely certain she was dead to the world. It made sense—it was past midnight, and by all normal human standards, she was probably in deep REM sleep. Dragging her out of bed now seemed downright cruel.

But she had flown all the way from San Francisco just for him, waiting for hours just to give him a surprise...

Arthur sighed again, utterly torn.

While he was hesitant to wake Nora, he had zero qualms about waking his own brother. He immediately dialed Archer's number.

Archer was out cold. Startled awake by the sudden ringing, he groggily opened his eyes, convinced it was a nightmare. After the obnoxious ringtone blared for the third time, he realized some absolute jerk was actually calling him in the middle of the night.

Archer usually had a decent temper, but being woken up at this hour tested his limits. Scowling, he slammed his hand against the bedside lamp, cursing under his breath. But the moment he saw the caller ID, he swallowed his curses.

Rubbing his face, he hit answer. "Yeah, Artie?"

"Which room? Open the door."

Archer didn't even bother putting on shoes. He padded barefoot to the door, cracking it open to peek into the hallway. He immediately spotted his brother's grim face.

"Of course you shouldn't tell him," Archer analyzed seriously. "He's going to find out she's in Northampton eventually. She put so much effort into planning this, you can't just ruin it for her."

Arthur nodded slowly. "Good point."

With that weight off his mind, his exhaustion finally caught up with him. He pulled off his tie, tossed his suit jacket over the back of the sofa, and unbuttoned his collar.

Archer blinked in confusion. "What are you doing?"

"Going to sleep." Arthur grabbed a pillow from the headboard and tossed it to the other side of the king-sized mattress. "We'll split the bed. Deal with it."

"..."

"No way! Absolutely not!" Archer aggressively defended his sleeping territory.
