Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 405

Seeing Olive's reaction, Ginger didn't feel an ounce of fear. Instead, a twisted thrill surged through her.

This was exactly what she wanted. She wanted Olive to snap.

If that woman dared to touch even a single hair on her head, the loss of her baby could be perfectly blamed on Cloudwater Estate.

"What? You want to hit me?" Ginger took another aggressive step forward, her voice shrill and piercing. "Try it! I'm carrying the Lancaster bloodline! You lay one finger on me, and Beatrice will flay you alive!"

Olive's fists instantly clenched. She rolled up her sleeves, fully prepared to charge forward.

"Olive."

Just then, a smooth, calm voice drifted from behind her.

Olive froze in her tracks, glancing over her shoulder.

Archer stood casually a few feet away, with Bane sitting obediently by his side.

The massive dog had his chin lifted haughtily toward the gate, eyes half-lidded, tail completely still, radiating an aura of sheer, unbothered arrogance.

"Olive, didn't my brother teach you the difference between someone baiting you and someone just begging for a beatdown? Did you forget again?"

"???"

Olive turned to stare at him, blinking in utter bewilderment. Then, a sudden realization slammed into her, and she whipped her head back toward Ginger.

"Fuck!"

A few seconds later, she swore violently and quickly stumbled two steps backward. "I almost walked right into that!"

Pointing frantically, she barked orders at the guards. "Everyone back up! Do not let her touch you! This crazy bitch is trying to set us up for a fall!"

The guards exchanged confused glances but obeyed instantly, backing away to put solid distance between themselves and Ginger.

Ginger trembled with pure, unadulterated rage.

She recognized him. He was one of Hudson's twins. Archer, she thought his name was...

"Who the hell do you think you are? You're nothing but a used-up whore, and you dare speak to me?"

Archer's pleasant smile didn't waver an inch. "Please, calm down, Ginger. It wouldn't be worth it to ruin your health over this."

The ambulance arrived incredibly fast.

By the time the paramedics loaded her onto the stretcher, Ginger was in too much agony to speak. Her face was as white as a sheet, the linens beneath her soaked through with blood.

Archer watched the ambulance speed off, then pulled out his phone to call Arthur.

"Arthur, we have a situation."

...

When Arthur received the call, Hudson had his arm wrapped tightly around Nora, watching a TV show in the hospital room.

That morning, Liam had ordered a full-body workup for Hudson. Now, they were just waiting for the all-clear so they could finally be discharged.

Bored out of her mind, Nora had flicked on the hospital TV and pulled up a cheesy romantic soap opera to kill time.

She had fully expected Hudson to despise the overly dramatic romance, but after he finished taking a few work calls, he had simply sat down next to her, pulled her into his arms, and watched it right along with her.

The current scene was pure heartbreak—the female lead was forced to abandon the hero to save him from the villain's blackmail, delivering maximum emotional devastation.
