Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 376

Something definitely didn't add up.

"Stop staring."

Just as Nora's mind started spinning with theories, her chin was gently pinched and turned. She found herself staring directly into Hudson's bottomless, ink-black eyes. "The doctor's long gone."

Nora swatted his hand away. "I wasn't staring... I'm just curious. It seems like Arthur and the others have known Dr. Harrison for a really long time..."

Hudson's hand paused on the ice pack before he answered with casual indifference. "They have."

"Oh?" Nora's eyes lit up with sudden interest.

A faint smile touched Hudson's lips as he tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. "Dr. Harrison worked as my live-in physician for a while a few years ago. Naturally, he got close with Arthur and the crew."

"That makes total sense..." Nora nodded in realization.

No wonder Liam acted like he owned the place.

...

Late night.

The lingering scent of their passion hung heavy in the air.

The bedroom was bathed in the warm, dim glow of a single bedside lamp.

Nora had already fallen into a deep, peaceful sleep, her breathing soft and rhythmic.

Hudson leaned back against the headboard, a sheen of sweat glistening along the sharp lines of his neck, trailing down into the open collar of his robe.

His gaze was locked onto Nora's face, unblinking.

After a long while, he slipped out of bed and pushed open the balcony doors.

The crisp, cool breeze of early autumn washed over him, sweeping away the residual heat from his skin.

He placed a cigarette between his lips and lit it. The orange ember flared brightly in the shadows, highlighting the dangerous depth in his eyes.

When the cigarette burned down to the filter, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

It rang twice before Liam's deep voice answered.

"Boss?"

"Good," Hudson replied.

"By the way, Boss..."

Liam added, as if suddenly remembering something. "What do you want to do with the Holloway twins in the basement? We're feeding them top-tier meals every day, and they just sit down there screaming insults. Olive got so pissed today she nearly gutted them with a combat knife."

A faint, razor-sharp smile ghosted across Hudson's lips, vanishing as quickly as it appeared.

"Fatten them up by three pounds, then cut them loose."

"..."

A brief silence hummed over the line.

"Understood," Liam said, instantly catching on.

The psychological trap was set.

Those twins were now a double-edged sword, perfectly sharpened and aimed straight at Lawrence Lancaster. No matter how the old man tried to play his hand, that blade was guaranteed to slice his throat first.
