Nora also instinctively looked up at Hudson.
She had been listening to their conversation, catching the general drift of the situation.
Finnian had asked Hudson to find a person named Felix Vaughn.
She didn't quite catch the rest, only thinking that the name 'Felix Vaughn' sounded quite nice.
She couldn't help but wonder if this person was Finnian's first love or someone special. She hoped it wouldn't cause trouble for Sienna...
While she was lost in thought, Hudson reached out and tapped the tip of her nose. "Understand what we're talking about?"
Nora glared at him. 'None of your business!'
A faint smile touched Hudson's lips as he tucked a few stray strands of hair behind her ear, saving them from the wind.
He then shifted his gaze back, his tone casual. "Finnian might not just be looking for Felix Vaughn. There are probably others involved."
"Who?"
Hudson's lips curled up. "It's not hard to track Finnian's movements in San Francisco. Figure out who else he's looking for, and we'll have our answer."
Grant and Sebastian exchanged a look, both giving him a thumbs-up.
"Brilliant, Boss!"
"I'll leave it to you two. Dig deep."
"Understood."
Hudson took Nora's hand, and they turned to get into the car.
The black Maybach slowly pulled out of the Peninsula Hotel parking lot, merging into the night traffic of the Financial District.
Neon signs blurred past the windows, casting a wash of vibrant colors across the glass.
"What's on your mind?"
Pulled from her thoughts, Nora turned to find Hudson's dark eyes watching her.
She didn't hide anything, telling him how she had just reconnected with her childhood friend.
"She's five years older than me. Back then, she dated the most popular guy in their school. You have no idea how dramatic it was. It was literally like a romance novel..."
Sighing deeply, she added, "I guess first loves never really have a happy ending."
Meanwhile, the Reed Residence was brightly lit.
When Marcus Reed pushed the front door open, he found the living room in total chaos.
Jade Reed was sitting on the floor leaning against the sofa, surrounded by shattered glass.
"Jade? What happened?"
His heart aching at the sight, Marcus rushed over. "Why are you sitting on the floor? It's cold, get up."
Jade refused to move, swatting his hands away as she hugged her knees and sobbed.
Frowning deeply, Marcus glanced around but didn't see Penelope anywhere. A flare of anger ignited in his chest.
He had thought she would be a good stepmother, but she was neglecting his biological daughter while he was out!
"Penelope! Penelope!"
He shouted several times before Penelope finally hurried down the stairs.
She had a bandage wrapped around her forehead, blood seeping through the gauze. She looked pale and even more disheveled than Jade.
