Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 187

Her face was so red it practically radiated heat. Her fingers gripped the bedsheets until her knuckles turned white. It took her several agonizing seconds to force out the words, "...The wedding is tomorrow."

Hudson's lips curled up, the amusement in his eyes deepening. "So, tomorrow night, then?"

Nora immediately hung up.

This man...

She pulled the covers completely over her head, leaving only her burning ears exposed.

He was entirely too wicked.

Perhaps flustered by the call, Nora surprisingly found herself drifting off to sleep soon after.

But as she hovered on the edge of consciousness, her mind was hijacked by the image of Hudson in his steamed-up bathroom...

Lost in a swirl of hazy thoughts, she fell into a deep sleep. She wasn't sure how much time had passed when a sudden tapping sound snapped her awake.

She instinctively opened her eyes, just in time to see Hudson pushing her window open and vaulting into the room.

Nora jolted upright. "Hudson? How... how did you get up here?"

"Scaled the wall."

"..."

She threw off the covers, rushed to the window, and peered down. Her room was on the second floor, a good fifteen feet off the ground. Did he seriously just free-climb that?

"You are out of your mind! What are you doing sneaking in here in the middle of the night? What if you fell?"

Hudson slipped his arm around her slender waist, a wicked smirk playing on his lips. "Honey, you never answered my question..."

Nora let out an exasperated laugh. "You climbed up here in the middle of the night just to ask me that?"

"Mhm." The man nodded solemnly, his hot breath fanning across her face. "Can I do something bad?"

It was only then that Nora realized exactly how intimately their bodies were pressed together.

Every inch of them was flush, his chest radiating a heat that felt like it could melt right through their clothes.

Her mouth went instantly dry. She didn't want to be this close.

"J-Just let me go for a second..."

She pressed her hands against his chest.

Nora yelled back, her voice muffled. She waited until the footsteps faded down the hall before finally sitting up. Her face was flushed as red as a boiled lobster, the crimson heat spreading from her cheeks to her ears and all the way down her neck.

She rolled around in bed twice, burying her face into the soft cotton.

So embarrassing!

She actually dreamed about Hudson, and in the dream, she...

She lingered in bed for a few more minutes to compose herself before slowly dragging herself to the bathroom to wash up.

By the time she changed and headed downstairs, the makeup artist was already waiting in the living room.

The main wedding dress they had settled on was the satin mermaid gown she had tried on previously.

Nora stood before the full-length mirror. The luxurious satin draped perfectly over her curves, cinching tightly at the waist and cascading out from her hips, trailing along the floor like a mermaid's tail.

Intricate pearls and crushed diamonds were woven into the neckline and cuffs, shimmering with a soft luminescence under the lights.

Nora stared at her reflection, momentarily lost in a daze.

The makeup artist beside her looked utterly captivated. "Stunning... You are the most beautiful bride I've ever seen."
