The mattress dipped slightly.
Nora seemed to sense it. She rolled right into his arms, pressing her face against his chest, wrapping her arms around his waist, and throwing a leg over his.
She clung to him like a koala, locking him in place.
Hudson's body went completely rigid for a second.
Then, slowly, he relaxed.
He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her a little closer, rested his chin on the top of her head, and closed his eyes.
Outside, the moonlight flowed like water.
The night breeze slipped through a crack in the window, rustling the sheer curtains and casting a silhouette of their intimate embrace on the floor.
It was a picture of perfect harmony.
...
"Mrs. Lancaster, you're awake? Are you feeling unwell? Mr. Lancaster specially ordered this hangover tea for you..."
As Nora came downstairs, a maid handed her a steaming cup of tea.
"Thanks..." Nora took the cup and downed it in one go, finally feeling the nausea in her stomach settle. "Where's Mr. Lancaster?"
"He went out."
Nora nodded, waving the maid away.
She reached up and rubbed her temples, trying to ease the throbbing headache and dizziness. To fool Hudson yesterday, she had legitimately chugged half a bottle of hard liquor. Her brain was still paying the price.

She only remembered Hudson kissing her with brutal intensity.
She hadn't actually planned on doing anything with him—after all, she knew he supposedly couldn't perform. She only wanted to give him a little sweetness to distract him, to lower his guard. She hadn't expected it to backfire so spectacularly.
Thinking of the man's massive hands yesterday, Nora couldn't help but blush furiously.
Was Hudson out of his mind?
A single kiss felt like he was trying to devour her alive...
As Silas stepped out, his brow furrowed slightly.
He had called ahead to have the butler prepare everything.
Normally, the moment his car passed the gates, the butler and staff would rush out to greet him. But right now, there wasn't a single person in sight.
These worthless dogs. It seemed he had been treating them too well, letting them get lazy.
Silas took a deep breath, pushing down his anger, and turned toward the basement.
No matter what, he needed to check on his new toy first.
The basement door was at the end of the hall. It was a heavy steel door painted dark gray, blending seamlessly into the wall. You couldn't even tell it was there unless you looked closely.
Silas pressed his finger against the scanner. The steel door let out a low hum and slowly swung open.
Behind it was a long corridor. Along the walls were tightly shut doors. Every few feet, a wall sconce cast a dim, eerie light, making the hallway look like an endless abyss.
Silas pulled out a key, slid it into a lock, and turned it gently.
With a click, the door unlocked...
