Madly Yours (Nora Reed) novel Chapter 105

Finnian lowered his gaze, a faint smile touching his lips, though it didn't reach his eyes.

"From the Reed family in San Francisco? The construction magnates?"

Lucas nodded frantically. "Yes, yes, exactly."

Finnian fell silent.

His eyes drifted back to the slender figure beyond the glass. A dark, stormy intensity surged in his gaze before settling back into a cold calm.

No wonder he had run into her there yesterday.

She was Hudson's fiancée...

Lucas stood there until his legs ached, too terrified to speak, forced to just wait in agonizing suspense.

After what felt like an eternity, Finnian pulled his gaze away, picked up his teacup, and took a slow, deliberate sip.

"This plan is fine."

Lucas sagged with relief. "Yes, sir! I'll have the team finalize it immediately."

He turned to leave, but at the door, he couldn't resist glancing back.

Finnian was still on the sofa, spinning the teacup between his fingers, his eyes fixed on the window, lost in some dangerous thought.

Lucas shut the door quietly and let out a shaky breath.

The man was a nightmare to deal with.

...

Rehearsal ran until noon.

During the lunch break, Nora found a quiet corner, pulled out her phone, and made a call.

It was picked up almost immediately.

"Hello? Dr. Harrison? It's Nora..."

"Ms. Reed! What can I do for you?"

"Liam, could I ask you for a huge favor?"

Across from him sat Sebastian and Grant. Spread out on the marble table between them was a thick dossier and a single photograph.

The photo was old, its edges frayed and the paper yellowing. It featured a woman in her early twenties wearing a simple white dress, standing in a field of flowers. The wind caught her hair, framing a face so stunning it hardly looked real.

She possessed a wild, magnetic beauty, yet her eyes held an untouchable, icy grace. The two contradictions blended seamlessly, making it impossible to look away.

Sebastian stared at the photo for a solid ten seconds before finally blinking.

He knocked back his whiskey and sighed. "This Fairchild heir... has interesting taste."

Grant, a cigarette dangling from his lips, raised an eyebrow. "Meaning?"

"Look at the wear and tear. The vintage style of the dress..."

Sebastian tapped the edge of the photo. "This was taken at least twenty years ago. The guy went through hell and high water tracking down an old lady?"

Grant leaned in, scoffed. "You call that an old lady? That is a goddamn goddess. Even if she's older now, she'd be a masterpiece. You have no taste."

Sebastian rolled his eyes. "Fine. You're the connoisseur. I won't argue."

They bickered for a moment before shifting gears.
