Chapter 899
The call connected quickly.
Aaron’s low voice came through.
“What is it?”
He was clearly in a bad mood.
“You’re making me go to the Black Sea with Felix?”
“Yes. I’m leaving for Ravaria soon. Going with Felix is the best arrangement for you.”
“The best arrangement?” Stella repeated. “What exactly are you thinking?”
The idea was almost laughable.
“You need to let go of your resentment toward Felix.”
“My resentment toward him?”
“Yes. You’re furious with him because of Summer.”
The moment Summer’s name came up, Stella’s temper flared.
“That’s right. I’m furious with him because of Summer. And I’m furious with you too.”
“What now? Are the two of you planning to avenge Summer by coming after me?”
They had protected Summer so fiercely while she was still alive.
Now that she was dead, what were they planning to do?
Even now, Stella could not understand what Summer meant to Felix and Aaron.
Evan, at least, had an explanation.
Summer had been his sister-in-law. His brother was dead, so Evan had felt obligated to protect her.
But Felix and Aaron?
What reason did they have?
The fact that Felix’s men dared to use force against her on Hogarth property already told Stella that Aaron had approved it.
At the very least, he had chosen not to stop them.
Even so, hearing him confirm it himself stil! left her breathless.
It hurt.
“Stella, this isn’t the time to let your personal feelings get in the way,” Aaron said. “You need to stay with Felix.”
Stella gave a bitter laugh.
“You’re lecturing me about personal feelings?”
“You trust Felix so completely that no matter how many things he does to hurt me, I’m not even allowed to be upset?”
On the other end, Aaron rubbed his brow as he heard the emotion in her voice.
“I’m your brother. You should trust me.”
“What?”
The words should trust me sounded almost absurd.
And brother was even worse.
“My brother?”
“I’m your brother, Stella. We’re full siblings.”
“Then why does it feel like you’re Summer’s brother instead?”
Aaron fell silent.
Her words angered him.
Ungrateful little thing.
Had he not treated her well ever since finding her?
How could she say something like that?
Aaron drew in a deep breath.
“If you keep talking like that, I’m going to…”
The call ended before he could finish.
Aaron was angry because of what she had said.
The quality simply would not be as good as what she had here.
“I’m not going.”
Her answer remained firm.
After that call with Aaron, only one thought remained in Stella’s mind.
None of this mattered anymore.
There was no reason for her to stay here.
Her biological brother.
The Hogarth family’s little princess.
None of those labels meant anything to her anymore.
All she wanted now was to leave this godforsaken place.
She did not care where she went, as long as she had nothing more to do with Felix or Evan.
“I’m afraid that isn’t your decision to make,” Jack said politely.
Stella fell silent.
“After your conversation with Mr. Hogarth, I’m sure you understand. You have to come with us today.”
Even her own brother had made no attempt to stop them from taking her to Felix.
Stella let out a cold laugh.
“Home.”
What a joke.
Even in her own home, she had no say?
When Aaron picked her up at the airport, he had told her this was her home.
Everything prepared for her here was supposed to prove she belonged.
This was home?
If it truly was, why did she not even have the freedom to choose whether she stayed?
