Ivy froze when she heard Stella say she was used to it.
Then her heart ached for her even more.
Used to it.
What did it take for someone to become used to being treated this way?
Ivy drew a deep breath.
“You deserved so much better.”
“I did,” Stella agreed.
Every time she had allowed herself to fall for someone had been a mistake.
Falling for Evan had not been worth it.
Neither had falling for Felix.
“That’s why I don’t let myself fall for anyone anymore.”
It did not matter what a man did to win her over.
Stella only needed to remember one thing.
Men could not be trusted.
At this point, Evan and Felix felt exactly the same to her.
“Let me help you escape,” Ivy said.
Amos had warned her that doing so would mean openly turning against Evan.
But Ivy could no longer stand by and watch.
So what if they became enemies?
Amos might appear straightforward at times, as though he could never outmaneuver Evan.
But if the two men truly went to war, Ivy was not convinced Amos would be the one who suffered.
Stella looked at her.
“I mean it,” Ivy said earnestly. “I’ll help you.”
Stella shook her head.
“There’s no need.”
“Stella…”
“The fact that you’re willing to help means a lot to me, especially when we haven’t known each other for long.”
Even Ivy, someone she had only recently met, had chosen her side.
That alone showed how badly Evan and Aaron had failed as people.
“This isn’t the time to be touched,” Ivy said. “You need to pull yourself together and get out of here.”
“I am going to leave,” Stella said with a sigh.
“But not yet.”
“Then when?”
Stella fell silent.
When?
She had already thought of a way to free herself from both Evan and Felix.
Once she escaped this time, she would never have anything to do with either of them again.
