Chapter 830
Back in Eirden, Stella was restless too.
She had not seen Felix all day.
He had not come by once.
Then, that evening, Gray reported, “Mr. Hernandez has people preventing ours from searching for
Summer.”
Stella’s hand paused around her pen.
She looked up at Gray.
“He sent people to stop us too?”
“Yes.”
Gray nodded, his expression grave.
Stella had made it very clear to Felix that she would find Summer no matter what.
And now…
Felix was just as determined to protect her.
Stella took a slow breath.
“I understand.”
“What should we do?”
“Keep looking.”
The two words came through clenched teeth.
Even if Felix was determined to help Summer, Stella was just as determined to find her.
No one would be allowed to stand in her way.
Gray nodded.
“I’ll send more people.”
“Okay.”
Gray left.
Stella was alone in the study.
An icy chill surrounded her.
Felix
What kind of man was he really?
Back in Harbor City, he had seemed like someone she could trust.
So why was he doing this now?
Stella could not understand why Felix was protecting Summer so fiercely.
When Aaron returned, he found Stella sitting alone in the study.
There was an unlit cigarette between her fingers.
In her other hand, she turned a lighter over and over, as though she might light it at any moment.
Aaron frowned.
Evan sent her three messages almost every day.
Sometimes, he even called to talk about Felix.
“Tell me,” Aaron said.
“Can I go to Ravaria?
Stella looked at him.
At her near-escape request, Aaron’s expression paused.
He was usually unreadable.
Then his smile softened further.
“What’s wrong? Why go to Ravaria when you’ve only just returned to Eirden?”
Stella only looked at him.
Especially when she met those gentle eyes.
Aaron was so warm with her.
But right now, even that warmth did not make her feel entirely safe.
She did not believe he failed to understand why she had suddenly asked to leave.
She just sat there, looking at him in silence.
When she did not answer, the smile at the corner of his mouth deepened.
“Isn’t home good enough?”
The word home pierced Stella’s chest.
