Let’s Divorce Mrs. Wright Is Done Playing Nice novel Chapter 1029

Hearing that Evan planned to investigate Felix and Aaron thoroughly, Stella laughed again.

“What does any of that have to do with you?”

“They threatened your safety. How does that have nothing to do with me?” Evan demanded through clenched teeth.

She could not simply decide he had no right to care.

Every time he thought about what Felix and Aaron had done recently, fury surged through him.

More than anything, the thought terrified him.

If Seymour and Remi had not secretly gotten Stella out of Eirden, Aaron might truly have handed her over to Litt.

Evan did not dare imagine what would have happened then.

Litt had been a twisted old monster.

Even now, Evan still had not uncovered the exact connection between Litt and Summer.

It made no sense to say Litt had cared about her.

Back in Harbor City, Summer had suffered terribly, yet Litt had never stepped in to protect her.

And then, later…

“You’re quite good at pretending too,” Stella said.

Evan’s anger vanished instantly.

“What do you mean?”

“I was never that important to you.”

So what was all this outrage supposed to be?

A performance for her benefit?

He really was good at putting on an act.

When men decided to play the victim, they could be even more manipulative than women.

Evan’s expression darkened.

She believed nothing now.

Not him. Not anyone.

Stella turned and walked out.

Evan remained in the room, smoking one cigarette after another.

When Amos entered, the heavy cloud of smoke nearly drove him straight back out.

“What happened now?” he asked. “You finally got your wife back. Why do you still look miserable?”

“She has a remarkable talent for infuriating me.”
