Back in Seaborne, Stella was taken straight to Amos’s residence.
It was also the first time she met Ivy Chandler, the first woman Aaron had ever loved.
Ivy was beautiful, with long golden hair styled in loose curls.
Especially when she smiled.
No wonder Aaron had never been able to let go after all these years. Even now, the mere thought of Ivy was enough to make him want to go after Amos.
If Stella were a man and someone had taken such a beautiful woman from her, she would probably have lost her mind too.
“So you’re Aaron Hogarth’s sister,” Ivy said. “You don’t look anything like that bastard.”
She insulted Aaron without the slightest hesitation, even though Stella was his sister.
Stella said nothing.
But the words were strangely satisfying to hear.
Ordinarily, she might have defended her own family.
Unfortunately, Aaron truly was a bastard.
She could not find a single reason to defend him.
“All right, sweetheart,” Amos said as he slipped an arm around Ivy’s shoulders. “Evan just got his wife back. Let’s give them some space.”
Then he led Ivy away.
Stella frowned instinctively at his words.
But the two of them were already gone.
That left only Stella and Evan.
Evan was standing on the balcony taking a call, his expression grim.
A few moments later, he ended the call and came back inside.
He glanced at Stella sitting on the couch.
She ignored him and let him stand there looking furious.
She had no idea what had been said on the phone.
But anything capable of provoking Evan had to involve either him or her.
And when it came to the two of them, Felix and Aaron were the most likely causes.
Evan did not speak, so neither did Stella.
In the end, he was the first to lose patience.
“Your brother is going to marry Yara.”
