Felix had previously wondered why Amos was so fiercely loyal to a dead friend.
Now he understood.
Evan had never died at all.
Amos had not been protecting Stella on Evan’s behalf.
Evan had been behind everything from the start.
He had faked his death and hidden Stella away while quietly preparing to destroy Litt once and for all.
What did Stella think of Evan now?
He had risked his life for her.
Would she be moved?
Would she return to him?
The thought sent an even darker edge through Felix’s eyes.
Felix was not the only one who quickly learned that Evan was alive.
Aaron received the news soon afterward.
He stared at Felix in disbelief.
Silence filled the room for several seconds.
“You’re saying Evan Wright is alive?” Aaron asked coldly.
“Not only is he alive, but he was the one who hid Stella in Sevi Valley,” Felix replied. “He has already taken her back to Seaborne.”
Aaron’s expression darkened at the mention of Sevi Valley.
“She certainly knows how to endure hardship.”
Anyone who had been to Sevi Valley knew how harsh the conditions were.
Despite its name, the valley sat at an extremely high altitude.
Someone with a weak heart might not survive there at all.
Even a healthy person would struggle with the altitude.
Yet Stella had stayed there for months.
Aaron had clearly underestimated her.
She had endured all of it without complaint.
“She grew up surrounded by hardship,” Felix said.
Before marrying Evan, Stella’s life had never been easy.
