The baby was Jennifer’s best chance of marrying into the Redson family.
Without it, what chance would she have left?
A woman like Jennifer could not possibly give up on marrying into wealth.
Vivian refused to believe she had terminated the pregnancy. She was convinced Jennifer would find some way to marry Leon.
That meant the baby had to still be alive.
Leon looked at her.
“Don’t look at me like that,” Vivian said. “There’s no way she got rid of the baby.”
Leon let out a cold laugh.
“You don’t understand her at all.”
When Jennifer had tried to terminate the pregnancy in Hamilton, Leon had believed Vivian’s claim that she was only putting on an act.
But now the news had come directly from Stella.
Jennifer might hide the truth from others, but she would never hide it from Stella. The two of them were far too close.
The news had to be true.
Jennifer had really ended their child’s life.
The thought sent another sharp ache through Leon’s chest.
“What is there to understand?” Vivian retorted. “A woman like her can only change her life by marrying well.”
“But no matter what she does, this family will never accept her or that child.”
“She can forget about scheming her way into the Redson family!”
Vivian fired off the words without pausing.
Whether the baby was alive or not, she was determined to make sure Jennifer never married into their family.
“If she planned to use the baby to marry me, then why did she run away?” Leon asked.
Jennifer had already left.
Yet Vivian still insisted she wanted to marry into the family?
“She ran because she knew we wouldn’t let her keep the baby!”
Leon fell silent.
“She plans to hide overseas until the baby is born. By the time she comes back, the child will already be older. Then we’ll have no choice but to accept them.”
“That’s what she’s planning.”
The more Vivian spoke, the angrier she became.
That woman truly was calculating.
