Just as Stella had expected.
When Leon had been forced to choose between Jennifer and Monique, he had made his decision in less than an hour.
He had barely needed to think.
But now that he had to choose between his mother and Monique, the decision suddenly seemed impossible.
“Why don’t you take some time to think about it?” Stella said. “But I should warn you, I don’t have much patience left.”
She truly did not.
Before, she had been too busy to keep an eye on Leon.
That was no longer the case.
Leon said nothing.
“Oh, there’s one more thing you should know,” Stella added. “Jennifer terminated the pregnancy.”
The air on the other end of the call instantly turned oppressive.
Before Leon could respond, Stella hung up.
He wanted to protect Monique?
Fine.
The more desperately he tried to protect her, the more determined Stella was to deny him that chance.
…
On the other end of the call, Leon felt as though his mind had exploded into chaos.
When Vivian entered the study, she found him sitting there with a dark expression.
“Was that Stella Rowan?” she asked. “Did she say when Monique would be coming home?”
Monique’s disappearance had left the entire Redson family on edge for days.
The moment Vivian mentioned Stella, her voice filled with resentment.
“That woman has gone too far.”
“This is between our family and Jennifer. What business is it of hers?”
The matter had nothing to do with Stella, yet she had forced her way into it.
Vivian was furious.
“I warned you when you first started seeing Jennifer. Anyone who could be friends with a woman like Stella was bound to be trouble, but you refused to listen.”
After Stella destroyed the Wright family, no one in Harbor City cared who had been right or why she had fought back.
All they saw was that the Wright family had been ruined after bringing Stella into their lives.
She had become a cautionary tale throughout the city.
