Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 74

"Understand? Hmph. Zander, you really don't understand women at all."

"What kind of woman could endure her husband ignoring and abandoning her time and time again for another woman with no blood relation to him, especially when she needed his support, his presence, and his rescue the most?"

She took a deep breath, enunciating every word.

"Zander, you simply don't love her!"

"What you feel for her is just habit. It's reluctance to let go. It's childish male possessiveness! I'm the one you truly love! You just haven't realized it yet!"

"Your subconscious, your body, every single choice you've made—they all prove that I am the one you love!"

"Wasn't last night the ultimate proof? You were just chained down by the role of the 'older brother' for too long, suffocated by society's judgment. That's why you were too scared to admit it, too scared to face your own heart!"

"Stop talking... No... It's not like that..." Zander shook his head weakly, swaying on his feet.

Every word Yvonne spat felt like a mirror, reflecting all the neglect and wrongs he had inflicted upon Eliza over the years.

Seeing his complete breakdown only fueled Yvonne's twisted desires.

She felt that his suffering was the ultimate proof of his internal struggle over her.

Staring at him, her tone suddenly shifted, morphing into a sick sweetness.

"Alright, Zander. Stop lying to yourself."

"Just admit it. You care about me. Eliza is already gone. She's never coming back, and no one can stand in our way anymore. We belong together, don't we?"

Zander stared back at her, his eyes bloodshot with pure agony. "Yvonne, you're the one lying to yourself!"

"I admit, I owe her so much for all these years, but I won't make those mistakes again. I'm going to make it right! I'll make up for everything I've put her through!"

He reached out, trying to snatch the knife from her grasp. "Put the knife down. Stop this obsession!"

Yvonne's gaze hardened instantly.

She felt like she had just wasted her breath.

Her patience vanished. She pressed the blade deeper, letting a fresh stream of crimson drip down her wrist.

"Yvonne, don't do something stupid!" Zander screamed in sheer panic.

Yvonne let out a bitter laugh, then screamed hysterically.

"Your parents always treated me like their own daughter! If they find out their precious, perfect son forced himself on me and drove me to slit my wrists!"
