Zander gently placed the picture frame face-down on the mattress.
A surge of frustration washed over him.
Exhausted from days of endless work and the sting of Eliza's rejection, he mechanically took the glass of milk from Yvonne's hands.
Wanting to get rid of her as quickly as possible, he tipped his head back and drained the glass without a second thought.
"Thanks, Yvonne. I'm exhausted, so you should get some rest too."
Zander coolly handed the empty glass back to her.
Yvonne nodded, taking the glass before turning to leave.
The penthouse had a guest bedroom where she used to stay.
Tonight, however, she purposely left the door ajar.
She lay on the bed, waiting in the silence, checking her watch every few minutes.
The drug took effect much faster than she had anticipated.
Ten minutes later, her bedroom door burst open.
She immediately wiped the smirk off her face and squeezed her eyes shut.
Zander had initially only felt a deep weariness, but suddenly, an uncontrollable fire ignited in his lower abdomen.
He tugged at the collar of his bathrobe, desperate to relieve the suffocating heat.
What was happening to him?
His eyes snapped open, only to find his vision blurring into a hazy mess.
He stumbled out of the master bedroom.
He needed to find Eliza.
"Zander, it's me, Yvonne... please, no..."
Yvonne feigned a shy protest as she dodged the heavy weight of his body pressing against hers.
She murmured words of refusal, yet her lips recklessly crashed against his.
Zander's vision suddenly fractured into double images.
Under the dim amber glow of the bedside lamp, Yvonne's features began to twist and shift...
Until they morphed into Eliza's stunning, cold face.
"Eliza..."
A suppressed, desperate murmur escaped his lips.
Suddenly taking control, he tore the sheer, gossamer fabric of her nightgown away.
He flipped them over, pinning Yvonne beneath him.
"Eliza! Don't leave me! Don't abandon me!"
Hearing Eliza's name, Yvonne nearly went mad with jealousy.
Even now, the only person on his mind was that bitch!
