Left for Dead Came Back for Everything novel Chapter 57

How could Julian not see right through her inner awkwardness?

The amusement in his eyes slowly spread.

He didn't point out her embarrassment, simply taking a smooth step forward and shifting the black umbrella right over her head.

Letting the rain soak half of his own shoulder.

"I just got back not too long ago," Julian replied softly.

He leaned in slightly, closing the distance between them.

"For you to ask me that..." He raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in his eye.

"Did you miss me?"

"What?" Eliza whipped her head around, her eyes wide with disbelief.

She never expected the usually aloof, untouchable Julian to say something so flirtatious. Her heart skipped a beat.

She froze on the spot, her mind completely blank.

Seeing her stunned expression, the smile in Julian's eyes deepened.

He let out a low, husky chuckle.

"I'm sorry," he composed himself slightly, though his voice remained laced with undeniable fondness.

"I was just joking. You're not nervous anymore, are you?"

Hearing that it was a joke, Eliza's tense nerves finally relaxed.

She let out a secret sigh of relief.

It made sense—why would the heir to The Lawrence Group have any romantic interest in a divorced woman like her?

However, before she could fully exhale, Julian suddenly shifted gears, staring intently into her eyes.

His voice turned low and incredibly serious as he added:

"But I missed you."

Eliza felt like something had just exploded in her brain.

She stood blankly under the awning, completely deaf to the roaring storm around them.

Her pupils dilated slightly.

Julian watched her rare, adorably flustered reaction.
