I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 359

Nora was slightly taken aback. She hadn't expected Bonnie to say that. Crouching down slowly, she looked into the little girl's clear eyes and asked softly, "Would you mind if we brought Cassie over? After all, you know what she did to you before."

Bonnie giggled and shook her head. Her small hand gently grasped Nora's. Those bright eyes were pure and clear. "I don't mind. She's your daughter, after all. Plus, having another kid around will make things livelier. Cassie would probably be scared all alone in that big house. That's pitiful."

Nora moistened her lips, feeling as if something had struck her heart hard. A warm current flowed through her chest. She reached out and gently hugged Bonnie's small frame, a lump forming in her throat.

Bonnie was still exactly the same—pure, kind, and never holding a grudge. She was like a little angel.

"Thank you, Bonnie."

Bonnie shook her head and immediately rushed upstairs to grab her backpack. "I'll go pack my things first!"

Nora turned and gave some instructions to the housekeeper before waiting downstairs. Once the little girl came back down with her bag, Nora drove them to Finnegan's villa to pick up Cassie.

On the way, Nora was worried that Bonnie might be holding back her true feelings. She kept checking in. "Bonnie, if Cassie bullies you later, you have to tell me. Don't keep it to yourself, okay?"

Bonnie patted her chest and confidently promised, "I definitely wouldn't keep it to myself. And I won't let her bully you, either. Don't worry!"

Nora smiled. Soon, the car slowly pulled up to the entrance of Finnegan's villa. She parked the car, opened the door, and Bonnie hopped out from the back seat.

As soon as the two of them stepped out, they saw Cassie gripping a small stuffed animal, standing all alone on the steps. When she saw Nora, her eyes lit up. The grievance that had been brewing in her heart all year flared up, and she wanted to rush over and hug her.

But then she saw Nora walking over hand-in-hand with Bonnie. Her little face instantly darkened, a layer of unhappiness clouding her eyes as her expression dropped completely.
