I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 328

Seraphina sniffled, smartly recognizing that pushing him further would backfire. If Finnegan changed his mind now, she would lose everything.

She had to rely entirely on his emotional attachment.

Standing up slowly, she put on a brave, tragic face. "I understand, Finn. I'll head back to the Institute."

Finnegan nodded wearily. "Drive safe."

Seraphina nodded, leaning down to press a soft kiss against his cheek before slipping out the door.

...

Meanwhile, Nora and Felix strode out of the Fletcher Group headquarters. Nora's face was carved from ice. She had never been subjected to such blatant corporate sabotage; she felt entirely played.

Felix fell into step beside her. "Nora, we can't show them any mercy. Since Finnegan wants to play dirty, we need to strike back with everything we have."

Nora had considered it. However, Phase II was currently running flawlessly. Forcing an abrupt halt would trigger catastrophic data loss.

The only logical way to mitigate the damage was to endure the partnership until this specific trial phase concluded, and then immediately sever ties.

A sharp headache pulsed at her temples. She had no idea what other traps Finnegan had waiting for her down the line.

Felix's voice rose with disbelief. "What are you thinking? Don't tell me you actually want to keep working with that bastard?"

Nora's mind was a tangled mess. She wasn't sure if a clean, brutal break was the smartest play.

Before she could answer, the frantic clicking of high heels echoed behind them. Seraphina's shrill, disbelieving voice pierced the air.

"Nora! So you knew everything all along?"

Nora and Felix turned around. Seraphina's face was rigid with panic. "You know he's not Frederick? Since when? And he knows too?" she demanded, pointing a shaking finger at Felix.
