I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 231

Meanwhile, the three board members locked their eyes on Finnegan.

The air in the conference room grew heavy enough to suffocate everyone present.

Standing by the door, Nora gripped the unsubmitted collaboration proposal. She glanced back at Finnegan, who was cornered by the board members, his expression grim.

Seraphina stood behind the directors, her chin lifted slightly, a triumphant smirk playing on her lips.

She had orchestrated this perfectly. By inviting the three veteran executives and publicly branding Nora's project a high-risk disaster, she not only severed any chance of collaboration but also forced Finnegan into a tight corner.

Nora withdrew her gaze, placed the file back on the table, and turned to face Seraphina. "If you were the one negotiating this project, would you still be saying these things?" she asked, her face devoid of emotion.

Seraphina raised her chin self-righteously, her tone dripping with feigned impartiality. "Regardless of who is negotiating, I wouldn't allow it. The Vance Institute currently has too many flaws, and the technology is far from mature. I can't prioritize my own career over the rise and fall of the family."

She turned to the board members before aiming her sharp words back at Nora. "Even if I were the one presenting this today, I wouldn't have showed up at all. It's just self-deception and asking for trouble."

The three directors stared at Nora, their faces as stern as iron.

Director Winston, the most senior of the group, was the first to speak. His condescending attitude was undisguised. "Nora, we know you're part of the Fletcher family, but this isn't a place for you to hand out favors. Don't just drag any project back home. Do you really think just anyone can partner with us?"

Nora didn't respond to the director's harsh words.

Instead, she turned back to Seraphina, her tone calm but sharp. "You're only saying this because you parachuted into your position. You have no idea how much effort and sweat went into the entire experimental process, nor do you understand how clear and direct all the data is. If you think there's a problem, why don't we run a test right now?"

Right at that moment, Felix pushed the door open and walked in.

He had been delayed by parking for a few minutes, and the second he stepped inside, he felt the hostile tension filling the room.

One look was all it took for him to know things were going south.

He walked up to stand right behind Nora and scoffed, shooting a glare at Finnegan. "Mr. Fletcher, you don't actually think Nora is trying to ride the Fletcher family's coattails, do you? Save it. Nora's future prospects are far brighter than any of you so-called big shots in here."

The directors' faces instantly darkened. Director Winston slammed his hand on the table and scolded, "Young man, watch your mouth!"
