I Was His Wife, Then His Widow, Then No One's But My Own novel Chapter 111

The weekend arrived quickly.

Nora Newman finally slept in until she woke up naturally.

Over the past few days, she had buried herself in data, combing through all the timelines and experimental parameters from start to finish to ensure there was absolutely no room for error.

She stretched and sat up in bed, rolling her stiff shoulders before heading to the bathroom to wash up. Her phone rang.

She answered it.

Felix Ford’s voice came through the receiver. "Nora, are you up? I'm heading over now. We can drive there together, as we might hit some traffic on the way."

Nora replied vaguely around her toothbrush. "I'm up, Felix. Have you eaten? Do you want to come over and have breakfast together?"

"Great minds think alike," Felix chuckled. "I brought breakfast. You don't have to cook."

Nora spat out the toothpaste and rinsed her mouth. She was about to agree, but Felix had already hung up.

She shook her head with a helpless smile; his actions were always one step ahead of hers.

By the time she changed and went downstairs, Felix had already arrived. The moment he heard her footsteps and looked up, he froze.

Nora wore a light purple dress paired with dark gray leggings. The temperature today was mild, making the outfit perfectly comfortable.

Felix hadn't seen her wear that color in a long time, and a fleeting look of awkwardness flashed across his face.

Nora walked up to him and couldn't help but smile at his dazed expression. "What is it, Felix?"

She had been picked up and brought to Finnegan Fletcher's house the day before. First thing in the morning, she rummaged through her small closet, pulling out all her brightest dresses.

After tossing them onto the bed and comparing them one by one, she finally settled on a rose-red puffy dress. She twirled in front of the mirror, completely thrilled with her reflection.

She eagerly ran to Seraphina Shaw's bedroom door and pounded on it. "Seraphina, we need to leave!"

A moment later, the door opened. Seraphina stood there with her long hair cascading down her shoulders, looking slightly groggy as if she had just woken up. However, that didn't detract from her polished appearance; her luminous skin glowed flawlessly under the soft light.

She looked down at Cassie with a gentle smile. "Good morning, Cassie."

Cassie was practically vibrating with excitement. She loved going out with Seraphina more than anything. Their previous trips, like hiking and go-kart racing, had been incredibly thrilling—far more fun than the boring museums and bookstores her mother always took her to.

Her mother only ever told her to sit still and behave, but Seraphina played and laughed with her. Today, they were going to a concert. Cassie had never been to one before, and she was sure it would be absolutely amazing.
