Sienna's heart skipped a beat.
"It's nothing."
"Sienna." Silas walked over, stopping right in front of her and staring down at her. "You don't have to pretend with me. Just say it."
Sienna remained silent for a few seconds.
"The living will... your father's living will. I saw it."
Silas's expression didn't change.
He pulled out a chair and sat down, gesturing for her to do the same.
Sienna took a seat, her eyes fixed on him.
"When he wrote that will, I was only twenty-three."
Silas leaned back in his chair, his gaze drifting out the window as if staring into the distant past. "He said he didn't want to be intubated, that he didn't want to live without dignity. I agreed to it."
Sienna didn't say a word.
"Later, he actually collapsed. A brain hemorrhage. By the time they rushed him to the hospital, he was already slipping away. We managed to resuscitate him, but he ended up like this."
Silas's voice dropped, laced with profound sorrow and helplessness.
"I know he didn't want to live this way, but I couldn't just watch him die."
He looked up, meeting Sienna's eyes.
"I'm his son."
At that moment, his Adam's apple bobbed, and his voice caught.
He sounded as though he were choking back a sob.
Sienna looked at him in surprise. This man, who was always so composed and completely in control around her, had suddenly laid bare his vulnerabilities.
In that instant, she was deeply moved.
For the very first time, Sienna reached out and took Silas's hand.
Silas squeezed it back.
They sat there holding hands in comfortable silence, their hearts feeling closer than ever.
Sienna didn't see the brief flash of calculation in Silas's lowered eyes, instantly replaced by the confident gleam of a man who had everything under control.

The next day, Finn woke up.
He propped himself up on the edge of the bed. His head was pounding terribly, like someone was driving a jackhammer directly into his temples.
