Gillian paused, casting a sideways glance at Hailey.

Gillian stared at the mangled skin and suddenly laughed. "I didn't think Mr. Foster was capable of feeling pain."

He had been so entirely consumed with his sweetheart's well-being, after all.

"I got this injury saving you."

"You got that injury because you grabbed the wrong person," Gillian corrected coldly. "Otherwise, I'd be the one in that hospital bed."

York's jaw tightened. "I only care about the result."
