I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 348

Julian's heart pounded violently against his ribs. "Sienna, what are we going to do?"

Sienna remained dead silent.

Garrett was clearly intoxicated by Zoe, thinking with his lower half. What could she possibly do against that?

It was undeniable proof that Garrett was deeply obsessed with Zoe.

Julian wasn't ready to give up.

"Garrett is probably just bluffing! I'm not some corporate spy! Threatening me with a military tribunal? Does he even have that kind of authority? I'm completely innocent. By the time I walked in, the damn presentations were over! I didn't even understand half the jargon they were spewing. How the hell could I leak anything?"

Sienna knew his logic made sense, but it didn't change the reality of our situation.

Garrett was locking onto Julian to avenge Zoe, exactly how the Kendalls had locked onto Terrence Winters.

Terrence was rotting in a prison cell right now entirely because of the Kendall family's sabotage.

Sienna felt a suffocating sense of dread.

"Just get Hayden to handle it!" Julian suggested desperately. "We know the kind of power he wields in this city. He's not afraid of Garrett Kendall, right?"

Hayden was the only lifeline Sienna could think of.

He had managed to pull strings for Terrence before.

If Beatrice Thorne hadn't violently intervened, Hayden never would have defied the old lady, and Terrence wouldn't be behind bars.

But Beatrice had a soft spot for Zoe. She had already protected her once; surely she wouldn't start a war with her own grandson over Zoe a second time.

Hayden was the only one who could make this go away.

Speak of the devil.

Hayden, Ethan, Quentin, and Ian were striding right toward them.

Seeing Hayden was like spotting a savior. Julian practically threw himself forward to beg.

Both men stared at her, utterly stunned by the audacity.

Hayden's expression remained perfectly unreadable.

"Quentin and Ian's families have been entrenched in high-level politics for three generations. They passed federal background checks before they even received their invitations, and yes, they signed the NDAs. This project is in direct partnership with the government. Without an invitation, no one steps foot in this room. The penalty is federal prosecution by the authorities."

Julian and Sienna stared at him, utterly horrified.

Hayden had echoed Garrett's exact words, word for word.

"If that's the rule, why didn't Garrett just have him arrested? Why waste time lecturing us?"

Sienna was so furious she was on the verge of sobbing, while Julian was practically vibrating with terror, his legs giving out.

Ethan let out a bitter, mocking laugh and pointed straight up at the security cameras above them.

"You two would have been perfectly fine if you hadn't stood directly under a surveillance camera to have this conversation, assuming Julian had left immediately. This isn't that deep. Garrett is partnered with Easton, so if an Easton employee screws up, it reflects on him. But you stood right under that lens for ten minutes. Everything is recorded. That is hard evidence. With that tape in Garrett's hands, he can destroy Julian however he sees fit."
