I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 342

"She's got a great memory for memorizing scripts. I guess that's where her real talent lies."

Hayden, Ian, and Quentin all turned to look at Ethan simultaneously.

Sienna pressed her lips together, staying silent.

Garrett was truly bending over backwards for Zoe. The project's technical details were supposed to be highly classified, yet he had let Zoe step in right at the finish line.

If it weren't for Zoe, it would have been Sienna's turn to speak on that stage.

Instead, Easton Group was completely sidelined, not even warranting a passing mention.

She glanced at Hayden again, but he offered no defense.

A suffocating wave of despair and fury washed over Sienna, dragging her mood into the gutter.

Why wasn't Hayden fighting for their credit?

Why did Zenith get to walk away with all the glory and reputation?

Was Easton just serving as their stepping stone?

Just then, a ripple of excitement swept through the crowd. Professor Alistair Layne had arrived.

His appearance turned heads instantly. As a towering figure in the AI academic world, his presence made sense, but he had withdrawn from these high-society social events years ago.

Everyone in attendance felt they had hit the jackpot today, mingling with hidden heavyweights like Arthur Kendall Sr., Derek Montgomery Sr., and now Professor Layne.

As soon as Alistair entered, he bypassed the government elites entirely and made a beeline straight for Garrett and Zoe.

"Zoe, my dear, I knew I'd find you here," Alistair greeted her warmly.

Seeing the notoriously strict professor speak to Zoe with such deep affection left the crowd thoroughly bewildered.

Alistair was famous for being a rigid, no-nonsense academic who loathed joking with the younger generation. No one had ever seen him look this endearing and approachable.

Now, Alistair had shown up out of nowhere, dragging Zoe into the spotlight and loudly claiming her as his goddaughter.

Arthur's face instantly dropped.

He and Alistair were around the same age, and in terms of seniority and prestige, they were neck and neck.

Alistair had been having the time of his life announcing his new daughter to the room, while Arthur stood by, glaring daggers at him, fuming with indignation.

If Zoe was Alistair's daughter, wouldn't that completely mess up his own seniority?

Would Alistair expect Arthur to call him 'Dad' too?

Arthur had zero interest in gaining a son that old. He stomped over to Alistair and let out a dramatic, aggressive cough.

"Alistair, you old fool, where are your manners? There's a rule of first come, first served! Zoe is my legally recognized honorary granddaughter. When the hell did she become your goddaughter? Are you just desperately trying to make me your father?"
