I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 340

She wanted to get to know them too; it was an absolute golden opportunity.

What did the standard business circle even matter compared to this?

Ethan Montgomery took a sip of his drink. "I have to admit, Zoe's luck is unbelievable. Do you guys know who those people are? I've seen quite a few of them at my grandfather's house. Even top officials in the capital have to bow their heads to them."

Hayden Thorne pressed his lips together, remaining silent.

How could he not know them?

As Ethan was speaking, he suddenly stood up.

"Why is my grandfather here?"

He was genuinely surprised. Derek Montgomery Sr. had stepped down from the front lines years ago. Ethan had been building his career overseas and rarely made public appearances back home, showing zero interest in politics, so the older man had never bothered paving the way for him.

Derek Sr. hadn't noticed Ethan yet; he was walking straight over to strike up a conversation with Arthur Kendall Sr.

Instantly, the atmosphere grew even more intense.

"I'm going to go say hi."

Ethan thought for a moment, then turned to Hayden. "Hayden, Zoe's skills are top-notch. I'll introduce her to my grandfather in a bit, so she can expand her network. The Kendalls have secured a lot of high-level resources thanks to their government ties, but my grandfather can do the exact same thing. What do you say?"

Hayden's predatory gaze never left Zoe.

He didn't care who the company partnered with, nor did he have the patience for this social posturing.

He was just thinking that Zoe was truly planning to lean on the Kendall family this time.

He scoffed.

What an opportunistic woman. Even after five years, her desperate need to climb the social ladder hadn't faded.

She saw the Kendalls' political backing and was throwing herself at them to curry favor.

Sienna Winters had been feigning a coy reluctance, but Hayden set down his glass and said coldly, "It's good to make some connections."

Sienna stood on the sidelines. Even though she was dressed to the nines, the group acted completely blind to her presence, shutting her out entirely.

Before she could even step foot into that elite circle, she was ignored.

"Mr. Kendall, this is my grandson. You two should get acquainted."

Garrett had zero patience for anyone who antagonized Zoe.

Since Ethan was clearly in Sienna's camp, Garrett kept his face devoid of emotion and merely offered a stiff nod.

"Mr. Montgomery and I have been crossing paths quite a bit lately. We've already met."

Derek Sr. laughed heartily. "So you boys already know each other! Young people should mingle more. Ethan, I want to formally introduce you to Ms. Lynd, Arthur's honorary granddaughter. She is an absolute powerhouse. The entire Zenith project was spearheaded by her. You should really rethink that traditional industry project of yours and learn a thing or two from Zoe and Garrett."

Ethan cast a fleeting glance at Zoe, mentally rolling his eyes so hard it hurt.

So this was how the Kendall family propped Zoe up—by blowing hot air.
