Colin's expression instantly tightened. How the hell was he supposed to know?
He only knew that the old lady constantly muttered Zoe's name, crying about how she had failed her.
"I'm not certain, but she likely hasn't visited."
Hadn't Ms. Lynd been stuck at Easton this entire time anyway?
Colin desperately wanted to suggest that his boss just ask her directly, or perhaps invite her to visit the hospital together.
Hayden's pupils contracted violently. Consumed by sudden rage, his grip on his luxury pen tightened until his knuckles turned white.
Colin heard him let out a vicious scoff.
Ungrateful wretch.
Was he seriously insulting Ms. Lynd?
The truth was, Zoe called the old lady practically every day, but Hayden was the one ruthlessly keeping her at the office until late at night.
Every single time, Garrett had to storm in with a murderous look to drag her out of there, both men glaring daggers at each other.
The entire Easton office was buzzing with rumors that the boss and Garrett were at war over her.
And all the toxic gossip was aimed directly at Zoe, accusing her of using Hayden to make Garrett jealous, orchestrating a twisted love triangle for her own ego.
Colin had no idea who had sparked such an absurdly unfounded rumor.
It was ridiculously pathetic.
The final day of the project finally arrived.
Garrett stuck by Zoe's side the entire time, utterly depriving Hayden of any chance to corner her alone.
Or rather, ever since she falsely accused Holden of pushing Lily, Hayden hadn't bothered to waste breath on her, disgusted by her relentless attempts to frame a five-year-old.
He was thoroughly sick of her manipulative little games.
He was done engaging.
As for Quentin, he was purely there for the drama and free drinks.
To everyone's absolute shock, Arthur made a rare public appearance.
His arrival set the room buzzing. A flock of high-ranking government officials immediately swarmed over to pay their respects to the Kendall patriarch, leaving Garrett and Zoe overwhelmed with elite networking. In stark contrast, Hayden's corner felt almost awkwardly deserted.
"Looks like Arthur and Garrett are dead set on elevating Zoe. I just don't get it. What kind of skills could an Easton secretary possibly have to suddenly become a Technical Director at Sterling? Does she even know how to read code?"
Ethan was entirely bewildered, convinced the Kendalls had been brutally conned by a pretty face.
He had personally witnessed Sienna's technical prowess, and the Thorne family's backing of her was earned through meritβ
But the Kendalls pulling this level of theatrics for a woman like Zoe? Was it really necessary?
She wasn't even their actual blood relative. It was utterly laughable.
Sienna smiled demurely. "Zoe's beauty is absolutely unmatched in our circle. If Garrett favors her, the Kendalls will naturally elevate her. It's only human nature."
