This was exactly the kind of drama Zoe wanted. Ethan couldn't wait to see how it blew up in her face.
Hayden wouldn't play her games. This farce was only going to ruin her own reputation.
"Ms. Lynd,"
Hayden drawled, making no move to lead Sienna away. His voice was laced with a dark, suffocating tension.
"Or should we be calling you Mrs. Kendall soon?"
His gaze was a jagged blade, violently dissecting Zoe's expression before shifting to Lily with a bone-chilling coldness.
Beside him, Sienna's embarrassment melted into a triumphant smirk.
It was painfully obvious Zoe was still using the Kendalls to grab Hayden's attention.
With an audience this big, she shouldn't have even bothered playing the dutiful sister.
Running off to join another family while still legally married to a Thorneβit was absolutely humiliating.
If Beatrice Thorne found out, she'd probably have a heart attack.
Intimidated by the glare, Lily whimpered and buried her face in Garrett's shoulder.
The sight sent a lethal spike of ice straight into Hayden's chest.
Zoe had lost her damn mind, and she was dragging their kid down with her.
The girl was ignoring her own father to cling to Garrett like he hung the moon.
Anyone watching would assume Lily was Garrett's own flesh and blood.
Garrett ignored Hayden's provocation. The venue was packed with power players, and he wasn't going to cause a scene on Zoe's big night.
"Zoe, overacting just ruins the scene," Ethan chimed in smoothly. "Quentin, Ian, let's head inside. No matter how elaborate the trap, you can't fake your way into someone's heart."
Ian elbowed Ethan hard in the ribs. "Are you insane? Stop throwing gas on the fire."
Ethan scoffed. Restraining himself from actively sabotaging her was already a massive courtesy.
He was only holding back out of respect for the Kendall dynasty.
Zoe definitely didn't deserve all the quiet support they had given her over the years.
"So, legally speaking, Mr. Kendall and Zoe are now siblings, right?"
Quentin stepped in, attempting to defuse the ticking time bomb.
She quietly slipped the velvet jewelry box back into her designer purse.
Beside Hayden, Holden started whining.
Smelling the catering, the kid's stomach was rumbling.
"Uncle Hayden! Why are we just standing here? I want to eat!"
Hearing Garrett explicitly state they were siblings had instantly drained most of the lethal hostility from Hayden's eyes.
His mood inexplicably lifted, granting him a sudden wave of patience for Holden.
"Let's go."
Right in front of the entire crowd, Hayden scooped the heavy boy into his arms.
Sienna pressed close to his side as the three of them walked into the hall like a picture-perfect unit.
Watching them, Lily shrunk back, pressing her face against Garrett's chest.
Ethan paused, shooting Zoe a deeply cynical look.
"Copying them isn't going to make it real. But honestly? You and Mr. Kendall make a solid pair. Garrett, even as Hayden's friend, I think you guys should just go for it. The kid already looks like she belongs to you. Why don't you skip the charade and just invite us to the wedding next time? Doesn't playing make-believe get exhausting?"
