I Forgot I Ever Loved You (Zoe and Hayden) novel Chapter 260

He had called and texted Zoe, explicitly telling her that the things she torched were the very gifts she had given him.

It had been over nine hours since their brief exchange that morning. Absolute radio silence from her end.

He tried to tell himself she was just swamped at work. The joint project between Easton Group and Sterling Group was still in its initial phases, requiring endless data testing and hands-on management. He could understand that. But she couldn't be so busy that she couldn't spare a second to text back.

Yet, she had seemed perfectly eager to answer Garrett's call.

Heh.

Hayden pulled his hands off the balcony railing, a dangerous gleam in his dark eyes.

Skiing? She and her new boy toy certainly knew how to enjoy themselves.

She had the time for Garrett, but not for him? Did she forget he was still her legal husband? Was she treating him like he was dead?

Blissfully unaware of the eyes boring into her, Zoe happily took Lily to dinner.

Hayden returned to the office and had someone quietly check the reservations at the ski resorts near Sterling Group. Sure enough, he found Garrett, Zoe, and Lily's names on the list.

He called Colin into his office. "Book me a spot at the ski resort for the eighteenth."

Colin blinked. Was their next client an avid skier? He quickly nodded and made the arrangements.

Sienna Winters happened to stroll into the office right at that moment. Catching the end of the conversation, a sweet smile bloomed on her face.

"Hayden, are you planning to take Holden skiing? He's been out of the hospital for a week and keeps whining about being bored. Skiing sounds like a perfect outing."

Still, his evasiveness sent a spike of panic through her. Was he actually developing a soft spot for that mother-daughter pair? The kid was just a walking blood bank; what was there to hesitate about? Swallowing her resentment, Sienna forced a graceful smile and left the office.

Hayden smoked in silence, his mind already drifting away. At this exact moment, were Zoe and Garrett really just 'working' at Sterling Group?

When the weekend arrived, Zoe and Lily were up early, ready to head out. Just then, Hayden's bedroom door swung open.

He looked at the two of them, his voice frigid. "Are you heading to school today?"

Lily had her little plush backpack strapped on, carrying her ski goggles inside. Zoe was genuinely surprised to see Hayden home. She had assumed he'd spent the night at Sienna's place.

Her face hardened into a mask of indifference as she gave a noncommittal hum.
