Zoe wanted to cry but had no tears left. She didn't know if the doctor was acting out of genuine concern or if she was just deeply offended by Zoe's choices.

Feeling utterly defeated, Zoe grabbed her medical report and walked out into the corridor.

As she stepped out, she caught the attention of Quentin Muir.

Quentin was at the hospital looking for someone else and hadn't expected to see Zoe walking out of the gynecology department.

Curious, he decided to swing by Dr. Lambert's office.

"That woman who just left—Zoe Lynd. What was she doing in the gynecology department?"

Quentin had been Hayden's private physician for years, and whenever something happened to Zoe, he was always the first one called to Blackwood Manor.

Lately, he couldn't tell if the couple's relationship was improving or deteriorating further.

Either way, he hadn't been woken up in the dead of night by Hayden demanding he rush over to save her.

Dr. Lambert was still fuming. As a veteran doctor, she had seen plenty of girls who didn't respect their own bodies, and usually, she just sighed and moved on.

She tried to save the ones she could, but Zoe was blindly destructive. She had never seen a woman willingly wreck her own body for five straight years just to please a man.

It was a miracle Zoe was still standing.

"You know her?"

Quentin nodded.

"You could say she's a friend."

Dr. Lambert's brows knitted tightly together. A wildly absurd thought suddenly popped into her head, followed quickly by disbelief.

"Don't tell me you're her boyfriend."

Quentin had a stellar reputation at the hospital. He was completely clean, had zero scandals, was incredibly handsome, and was fiercely dedicated to his work. The hospital board had already fast-tracked him for leadership.

He was highly favored to be the next Vice President. The number of doctors and nurses throwing themselves at him was absurd, and even Dr. Lambert had been scheming to introduce him to her daughter.

"Thank you."

Assuming Dr. Lambert was just taking out her work stress on him, Quentin didn't press the issue.

He thanked her politely. When she ignored him, he took the hint and walked out.

He stared down the hallway where Zoe had disappeared, deep in thought.

Zoe came to get an abortion, which meant she was pregnant.

Did Hayden have absolutely no idea?

Quentin pulled out his phone and found Hayden's contact. He hit dial, let it ring exactly once, and then hung up.

Forget it. That was between husband and wife. It wasn't his place to interfere.

The truth would come to light eventually.
