She had expected as much.
Hayden had always carried a torch for Sienna. Even when Sienna married Charles, Hayden's attachment ran so deep that he was willing to strangle Zoe over Holden, completely disregarding his own daughter. Yet, without a moment's hesitation, he had claimed Sienna for himself the second his brother died.
Because of that, the 'brotherly bond' Hayden constantly bragged about was nothing but a sick joke to Zoe.
He cared so much about his brother that he decided to take care of his wife in his bed, too?
Zoe wondered if Charles was rolling in his grave.
"Don't worry, Mr. Stone. Business is business, and personal matters are personal. I know how to keep them separate."
The absolute confidence radiating from Zoe's eyes made Garrett respect her even more.
"Alright then. Give me your ID details, and I'll book the flights."
After Garrett left, Colin called her.
"Mrs. Thorne, Mr. Thorne is heading to the sanatorium to visit your grandmother. Did he let you know?"
Zoe was baffled.
Hayden was going to the sanatorium?
To visit her grandmother.
At a time like this, when they weren't even speaking to each other, why would he suddenly be so generous with his time?
Zoe knew Colin was giving her a quiet heads-up. She appreciated it and responded clearly.
"I'm aware. I'm heading there right now."
It just so happened that the sanatorium had recently acquired a batch of smart-care robots designed to entertain the elderly and assist the nursing staff.
They were developed by Sterling Group, and Zoe was leading the engineering team for the first round of debugging.
She wanted to see exactly what Hayden was plotting by going out of his way to visit Grandmother Eleanor.
Zoe brought a team of three engineers. When they arrived at the facility, Director Carter greeted them personally.
Zoe shot a glare at the impeccably dressed man standing nearby.
He was flawlessly impersonating Hunter Keating without batting an eye, feeding her grandmother absolute nonsense. Did he even know the meaning of the word shame?
"Grandmotherโ"
Zoe started to explain, but Hayden simply reached out and pulled her flush against his chest. He even leaned down and kissed her earlobe right in front of Eleanor, playing the part of a deeply affectionate fiancรฉ to perfection.
Eleanor's heart melted at the sight, a joyous smile spreading across her face.
Sensing Zoe's struggle, Hayden tightened his iron grip around her waist.
He was practically resting his cheek against hers. As his warm breath brushed her skin, Zoe caught a whiff of that familiar cologne, now mixed with a faint trace of women's perfume. Her expression instantly darkened.
That bastard. He had probably spent the entire night rolling around with Sienna, and now he was here harassing her?
Hayden didn't give her a single inch to pull away, his tone perfectly smooth.
"Grandmother, you forgot what we just talked about. Zoe and I already have a daughter. Her name is Lily, and she's four years old."
